Turn off all non essential programs for starters. Also run a full defrag and clear your cache. If those don't aid in upping your speed you may have to upgrade your memory because lack of memory will slow things down.

go to start, run, and type in msconfig. click on the icon that kida looks like a typewritter with a pen. when that opens click the tab that says "start up" and click the bottom button that says "disable all".


you will need to reboot and when you get the message that says " your configuration has been changed,,," check the box that says "don't show this message again"


your computer will now start faster and give more resources to your games.


i promise this does nothing to hurt your computer or anything on it.


ps...you also want to go to tools, internet options and delete files and cookies. do a defrag and your computer will be the fastest it can get.

if youre not accesing internet, just turn off messengers, antivirus, spyware, audio, video, basically everything you can on the taskbar. it will be there again when you reboot so dont worry. and please defrag and clean up your harddisk regularly. it helps a lot
