I am against homosexual marriage.

Let me make it clear, I am barely religious, and I do not like it for religious reasons.

I'm a common sense guy, so all of my thinking comes from common sense. I see it like this.

If everyone would be gay, there would be no people.
People have to be straight for there to be MORE people.

So to have a gay couple is like..blasphemy on society, on the human race. You are saying that, despite all these people that have brought the human race this far, all the men and women who've bred together, you refuse to do it.

I don't care if you like girls or guys or whatever. It should be your human duty to make babies.

Just my two bits.

You all make good points, and yes we do have too much people in the world - But I think you should be with a woman regardless if you're a man, or with a man if you're a woman. That's the way nature revolves, and if a baby is needed in society you'll have a way to make it happen.

If you can't have a child, you should still be in a heterosexual marriage - and if you can't have one, oh well, no one's gonna be mad at ya

I'd be entirely for a woman going to a sperm bank for a child in a homosexual marriage, or a man adopting a baby in a similar circumstance

For a society to survive there must be a system of values. Those that support homosexual behavior seem to think that people should be allowed to do what "they" wish. If I "wish" not to see my neighbor, may I just eliminate him or her? Why not? You say it is killing, but we have acceptable circumstance under which one may kill another person. I really, really "wish" not to have that person as a neighbor (just an example I love all of my neighbors). Why can't I have what I wish? The answer is that the society make up it's mind what is acceptable and good for that society. Ours society decided a very long time ago that killing your neigh boor just because you do not like them or practicing homosexuality are both not good for our social system. We can change either but there will be consequences!!!

I think the church should regulate the Church's ideals, not the Government. Meaning the government should not tell churches what to do. On the flip side the Constitution guarantees life liberty and the pursuit of happiness for everyone, not just heterosexuals. That doesn't mean the church has an obligation to marry them. But they are in-titled to the same rights all as all Americans. So the only alternative is marriage by the State as in the justice of the peace. I know this is a controversial position.

this is the USA and regardless of what people think in this country " we are all created equal " and have a thing called " equal rights ". Anyone should be allowed to marry whoever they want. If we stop it at saying certain genders can't marry why not say certain races can't marry? I am religious and feel that homosexuality is a sin. But in the great USA that doesn't matter because the constitution rules and and here in the USA we do not allow discrimination and that's what a ban on gay marriage is, you are telling one group of people because of their preference they can't enjoy the same rights as everyone else

Personally don't care. Don't buy your arguement that Mankind will come to an end as a result of gay marriage, but it's better than some of the arguments I have seen.

If 2 people truly love each other, why can't they marry? At least some sort of Union for legal reasons.

I think too each their own...Not everyone is going to turn gay and plenty of people over the centuries have been gay, now its just more of an open thing.....however, I don't think that homosexuals should be married in a church, simply because it's a place of God and as far as I know churches don't encourage homosexual relationships....I could be wrong though. If they want to get married go through the courts and do it and have a beautiful reception!

One has to look at - what is the purpose of marriage. It is to unite and bless a man and a woman in holly matrimony to live, honor and cherish one another - with the intended hope that this couple will live together as husband and wife and bring new children into this world. If others want to live together "as if they "were married' - That's OK - but they should not have the benefits and rights of truly married couples.

Three things..

1. Are you suggesting that people who are infertile or haven't found the right person aren't fufilling their duty to humanity?
2. Are you aware of the extereme problems of overpopulation already? If everyone was required to have kids the world would literally starve to death in a matter of years.
3. Being gay isn't a consious choice a person makes.

Good question though.

Marriage is a religious concept. If a religion is opposed to homosexuality, government should not impose homosexual marriage on it. However, as I said earlier, marriage is a religious concept and government should not call it marriage. Legally, I think they should be civil unions or partnerships. If you are religious and want to call it marriage and be married in your place of worship, more power to you. Gay people should have the right to be legal partners just as anyone else. I wouldn't marry a guy, but that is my choice.

I'm a liberal and I strongly support same sex marriges. That's just wrong, people get to have their sexual perferences with out people telling them what they can be and what they can't be. Not everyone will be a lesbian or gay. If they are a lesbian there is some thing called a sperm bank. Its impossible for everyone to suddenly become gay.You should really be open minded. people dont choose to be gay or a lesbian. Its the way they were born. Not matter what you people say, I'm suporting same sex marridges.

I am not a homosexual, so this is what I think: If I remember correctly, this is America. It is not my right to judge someone else's life. As long as they are not treading on my rights & are not doing anything illegal, they can do what they want. Why are people in this country disagree with the policy "separation of chuch and state". I don't believe that homosexuals should marry, but that doesn't give me the right to invade someone else's life. The church should not marry homosexuals because it is against the religion and belief, but if they decide to go to the courthouse and marry, it's not my right to stop it. God gave us choices to do what we want. Let God deal with it. If I remember correctly, I'm not God, and neither are any of you. Believe me, there are people who are still hetrosexual, and procreation will continue to exsist.

It's none of my business whether or not someone wishes to marry someone of the same gender.

That being said, who you plan to marry should not be dictated by some "duty" to society.

Also, with regards to the "duty" of making babies...what about those heterosexual persons who can't have children or just don't want to? Are they deterimental to society because they won't produce?
