I often wear heels to school, then kick them off while I'm in my classroom, teaching. Professional for the admin seeing me come in, a bit more informal for my students.

A small heel of 2 inches can actually reduce the incidence of foot swelling! As long as the shoes fit well and are well made I wear them. I used to start off the year with a two inch heeled pump and tuxedo stockings. I felt neat and put together and the stockings and heels relieved the foot stress. Later on in the year, after I got used to the standing, I would move into flats and higher heeled shoes.

I do, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it. I feel just a little more powerful with heels, and my high school kids are impressed by elegant footwear (simple pleasures, right?). The high-heeled boots are the worst. Have to unzip the suckers, which cannot be done so easily between classes.

I have a stool handy so I can rest on my toches and relax the tootsies when necessary, though.
