If so, what does anyone know they call them? Are they known by any new names since the U.S. came up with 'Freedom Fries"?

I don't know about fries. But I've been told that a "French Kiss" in France is called an "English Kiss".

Maybe they eat "chips"?

They don't eat french fries in france, they eat fancy bread.

they're called pomme frittes, and that they flavor greater effectual than right here. slightly greater salty, and the interior is softer. They have been throughout Europe like that, and served often in a paper "cone" container.

pomme frites (short for pomme de terre frites)...which means 'potatoes fried'
