You have to wait atleast 4 hours before you can choose the best answer. That way you have a more varied type of answers to choose from and more likely to find the answer you are looking for. Hehe! Anyway, my suggestion is Nike Air Force Ones. Not the common one but those that are usually exclusive to one city. The Japanese are so into fashion and they do love their shoes. Or Adidas sneakers.

There are some vintage toys that go over very well in Japan, but you would have to know something about them to get the right ones in the first place. There is a good demand for vintage Japanese watches as well-Seiko etc. but not electronic- wind up or self winding.

Leica cameras are hot hot hot, but they are almost all in Japan now. If you could score a Leica from someone who doesn't know the value of it, you could easily sell it for a very nice price in Japan. There are other vintage cameras in demand as well- "spy" cameras etc., but again you would have to know the market. The Leica cameras are sure-fire however.

Yes, you need to sell it and I will tell you why. If it sits up for 3 years the gas tank will be rusty inside and you will have a lot of trouble. There are many other reasons but the wise thing to do is sell it even if you can store it free. Put it in the classifieds and try to get what you owe on it and pay it off.

Abercrombie and Fitch clothes.
Seriously they will love it. Most of my Japanese friends who come visit me in LA spend at least 3 hours there everytime they come. And I'm tellin' you they buy truck loads! I think American Eagle and Forever 21 clothes will go pretty well with the girls too.
Make sure you get small sizes because Japanese girls are tiny compared to most American girls.

And other brand names cheap.
Gucci is good.
Dolce and Gabbana
Not necessarily clothes but items will go well I think. Wallets, sunglasses, card holder, key chains stuff like that.
Oh and do they have DSW the shoe store around your place?
The shoes there are nice but pretty cheap compared to Japan prices. Those are a good buy too I think.

Also American candy like Skittles and Starbursts and other colorful candy will probably go well with Japanese teen girls.
Hit Harajuku on the weekends if you're going to Tokyo and good luck!!

If you want something extremely rare, although I have never in my life seen one, try an intelligent looking picture of George Bush. Come to think of it, the Bush fans would probably conceder it priceless right here in this once great country of Amexica. It could take a massive amount of photo editing and enhancement though..

Well you can take some chocolate, blank cds, some types of tea or coffee, American clothes with words on them (Aerocombic [not spelled right], food like bread or meat, rare candy like worms or starburst, drinks like coke and "wanna" fantana don't you want ah. These things I saw was expensive. Same drinks for like 1.25 which is like .25 in America. Clother or even poster or cards of popular American people. Not batteries though because they are cheep. Like eight or ten for 1.00. Enjoy

Designer bags.

Louis Vitton, Gucchi, etc.

If you can, get them half price or at least reduced - but they MUST be genuine! You can easily sell them here ... designer 'anything' is popular, but bags are the most popular!
: )

But there ARE limits. Watch out that you don't end up having to take your stuff back to America with you ...

"hard" is language barrior.
If you speak Japanese, you can sell it in sec-hand market.

However, there is nothing hard to get in Japan, especially in Tokyo.
Many licensee are importing and selling real new one.

Sell them through ebay before you come.
