When I take my ethernet cord and plug it into my computer from the cable modem, the internet works fine. When I take a different (longer) ethernet cord and plug it into my sister's computer from the cable modem, it says 'limited or no connectivity'. What is the deal with that? I don't understand why it's doing this. Any ideas?

Use the first cord on your sister's computer. Or, if it won't reach and you can't do that, then use the longer cord on your computer and see what happens. If both cords work on your computer or neither work on hers, then she has a problem. If the longer cord won't work on your computer, then it is a bad cord and her computer is ok.

try to interchange the cords and see what happens to your pc (the one with the internet connection). see what happens...

if the internet is still operating with that (longer cord), either the ethernet port of your sister needs to be check out...

if your cable (the short one you use) works fine on your sister's pc, check her internet settings if it is disabled...

or better yet try setting up a new network connection in your sis pc......
