why do ppl hat epppl that are "emo" all it means is emotional ..?

my friends sometimes call me emo but it doesnt bother me at all and some of my other friends are like omg he called u emo... why is it such a big deal (and i put this is psychology cuz i didnt rly know where it goes...)

Yeah. That's what I've always believed. Generally speaking, there is no good or bad music. Like they say, one man's treasure is another man's trash. So, this means Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers etc. are not bad music. An Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Beatles etc. are not good music. Some people will argue about talent. But just because a musician has talent doesen't mean everyone should like the music. Basically, I can record my fingernails tapping a beat on the table and I'm sure someone in this world will find that better than a Van Halen or Jimi Hendrix solo. The quality of music is 100% subjective and nothing else.

I'm emo too and here about where it belongs. and there is nothing wrong with being emotional. At least we have feelings, that more than I can say about a lot of people who visit this site. We could be called a lot worse. Remember Don't sweat the small stuff honey we got bigger fish to fry.

Because a lot of people who label themselves as 'emo' are practically acting like goths, except they wear square glasses instead of white makeup.

The stereotypical emo kid will whine about how his life is so horrible and everybody hates him as he drives the 2006 Jetta his parents bought for him and sits in a coffee shop late at night because he has no job and nowhere else to go.

"emo" doesn't mean emotional only, here, according to my teenage brother, is how you call the little "everyone hates me" kids, they act depressed all the time and dress like that girl in Evanescence lol, is like they have permanent PMS and they claim to do it " because they're different". just makes them loOK childish..
but most of them are 12- 16 so they ARE children, everyone goes through that phase, so It's ok, it shouldn't be an insult.

People use it as an insult mainly (from my experience) because it's just another trendy clique. And it carries the same stigma of goth that a LOT of the people who are into it are all about glorifying depression when they've got nothing wrong with them; they're seen as attention whores.

I'm not saying I believe all of that, and most certainly not about everyone who would fit in with that crowd, but that's what it's about.

THIS IS A GOOD THING, NOT A WEAK THING--IT MEANS THAT YOU'RE EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY. IF YOU CAN LAUGH OR CRY OR FEEL THINGS DEEPLY THAT MEANS THAT YOU ARE VERY INTUNE WITH YOURSELF WHICH IS ALOT MORE THAN WHAT OTHERS CAN SAY ABOUT THEMSELVES. For whatever reason, "emo" is considered a sign of weakness by many. You're supposed to take it in the chin, not be affected, etc. It's stupid, really.

Its annoying. thats why some people hate them. I don;t hate anyone, but it does get annoying when someone just whines about nothing. And I have the friends to prove it.
