Why is only 400Hz electrical supply used in aircrafts. Why not 100, 200, 600 Hz.?

Why is only 400Hz electrical supply used in aircrafts. Why not 100, 200, 600 Hz. On what bassis has the figure of 400 Hz arrived at. None of the aircrafts communication, navigation equipments work below 100 Khz so the question of interfernce does not rise.
