Unit is in ceiling of kitchen in this condo unit. The amount of water that is condensing is just unbelievable. Service man blew the line with nitrogen but water is still collecting in the line. Next suggestion is to install a trap in the line; we noticed while we had the line taken apart at the unit that if I held a piece of paper up to the open coming out of the unit it vacuumed that paper, meaning it held it against the pipe as opposed to blowing it away. IServiceman also suggested to wrap all the duct and the unit itself in insulation. I just dont understand what is causing that amount of water to pool.

whenever i install an ac unit in an un-air conditioned space, i.e.: crawl space or attic. i always use insulated duct work and wrap the unit in insulation. this will drastically reduce the amount of condensation.

The unit is designed to condense water out of the air and drip it onto an evaporator tray. When the dew point gets above 70 or so the unit is drawing a ton of it out of the air but the moisture saturation of the outside air is so great that the evaporation can't occur. If possibly check the drip line from the evaporator tray and make sure it is large enough and is clear. Don't put a trap on it as mold can grow inside and plug it up. If this is an ongoing problem then you should consider a heated evaporator tray to ensure proper evaporation of the water

All ac units condense water and it drips out a pipe going outside, what happens is the primary line gets clogged and the pan fills up sending water out the secondary line if it also gets clogged you can get a overflow into the ceiling, sometimes fungus and other stuff grows in the pipes clogging it so put some bleach in there to kill fungus, at this time you should check the coil for fungus, if you have it you need to clean it or get it done this is were legionaires disease comes from it can get in the air ways so clean it good.

Look at a glass of ice water on a hot day, water condenses on the out side of the glass. in the same way water condenses out of the air in ALL air conditioning units. you should have a pipe that carries that water out of your attic and dumps it on the ground. the more humid the air is the more water will condense.

if moss and mold is growing in the pipe you need to use blue vitriol crystals in the drain tube to kill it, thats what mom did with hers anyway.
