First of all, don't be scared! A mouse is not going to hurt you. There are a lot of things you can do to catch a mouse, but none of them are likely to work super quickly. Since you are scared, you aren't likely to be able to drop a shoebox or small container over it; if you do manage to do that, slide a piece of cardboard under it and take it outside to let it out. If you've got a cat, let it in. You've got a trap, presumably set, but it will probably take some time before the mouse gets trapped. Tomorrow you can go to the store and either buy mouse poison or sticky traps. The poison is a problem for a couple of reasons: It's also poisonous to pets and people, so you have to put it where no one but the mouse will get it. And when the mouse dies, it will stink! Sticky traps are just what they sound like: rectangular cardboards coated with very sticky glue-like material. If you put it in the mouse's path, with maybe a little cookie crumb or something on it, the mouse will literally get stuck to the trap. In the meantime, don't panic!

Don't be scared. Mice are not dangerous. They're actually kinda cute. D-con is dangerous if you have a cat or anything that might eat a dying, poisoned mouse. I recommend waiting for the trap to work. Just make sure it's placed in an area where you've seen mouse feces.

Get a couple of the biggest tom cats you can find and don't feed them for a couple of days....Only half serious here.
My mom had rats in her yard and she called the county health dept. They came out and got rid of them for her....no charge!
