ive heard that children, at least in britain, would collect flags of different countries (britain, USSR, US, germany, etc.) that were given out by the newspapers. the kids could use them to chart the progress of the war on a map of the world. did this really happen and does anyone know where i could find info on it?

My dad, at the age of four, kept track of the war by watching B-25's rolling off the assembly line in Fort Worth Texas.

I'd say that's a LITTLE more impactful.
