Global warming is in gear. The evidence is overwhelming.
But was causes it is bitterly debated. I think greenhouse effect ie; burning fossil fuels. I'm sure the industrial age didn't help any.
I get over 20 mpg in my car and drive as little as possible.
I will get a car that gets better milage in a few years.
I've been recycling for a long time.

I personally believe the philosophy that we are undergoing a natural heatwave - i'm not saying that the emissions of toxins and pollutants are not causing global warming, rather, I believe that such pollutants are adding to the natural occurance making it worse.
The long debate over whether pollution is causing global warming or whether it is just a natural earth process doesn't matter.
I'm not going to sit and argue either side because it doesn't matter and it won't change anything.
What i will argue is that we are polluting our air - whether it's causing global warming or not doesn't matter, because it is causing health problems and other nuisscences. Pollution is bad, and those people arguing that it isn't causing global warming need to stop and realise that, yes, it is causing other problems and thus it does need to be reduced significantly, even if it isn't to "save the world" from global warming.

Heat waves stem from favorable synoptic-scale dynamic weather features. A large high pressure over the Eastern US during the summer months imposes conditions favorable for heatwaves...
1. Large scale sinking motion minimizes cloud cover
2. Large scale sinking motion leads to stable temperature profiles
3. Stable temperature profiles prevent convective overturning (mixing) increasing equilibrium surface temperatures.
The bulk climate change observed so far consists of about a 1-degree F increase in average yearly surface temperatures for the globe...over the last 100 years. Pretty small.
Attributing a period of above average temperatures in a geographic area to global warming suggests a misunderstanding of both phenomena. I would feel more inclined to point to global warming to explain a 1 degree rise in the average July surface temperature at the South Pole (not that this has happened).
A string of anomalously high temperatures in any mid-latitude city has many more potential causal roots than a marginal increase in atmospheric emmissivity in the thermal IR band.

Global Heatwave. It's definitely global warming. What am I doing? I don't use AC nor drive my car that much anymore. Hope people wake up to see that it's a real dilema.
Seems like the problem is, whoever is in the present generation shuns accountability. They're always pointing fingers at the past generation and passing the buck to the future generation. When will it end? What generation will finally put their foot down and say, "we've got to fix this thing!"

Natural process. If you look back over the last twenty years you will find the same pattern with the weather patterns emerging. Some were blaming EL NINO' or EL NINA' for the weird weather.Look at www.theweathernetwork.com i believe they show weather stats from the past.I think they have a forum page.Global warming is inevitable, but will not fully impact our generation. But will affect future generations worse unless we smarten up!

you have set a sparkling prevalent for Yahoo questions right here. 3 sentences - each physique contradicting itself, exterior actuality or the two. i in my view like the assertion by using Kevin Trenberth, Sc.D., head of the climate diagnosis section on the national center for Atmospheric study, on the yank Meteorological Society's January 2011 assembly: "provided that international warming is unequivocal, the null hypothesis would desire to be that each physique climate activities are laid low with international warming somewhat than the inane statements alongside the lines of 'of direction we can not characteristic any particular climate experience to international warming.'"

Wow, your question made me realize that I am not doing anything for my planet. Damn.
But, in response to your question - this could be either one... the earth does have natural cycles - record lows / highs. They always fluctuate. Or, it could be the beginning of global warming. No one knows for sure.
