I applied for, and was denied, a job transfer for the same field position I currently hold elsewhere in the country. Job duties are identical. Employed w/ the company 11 yrs, 2.5 in current role. VERY successful in current role. I nearly maxed-out bonus potential both years. Similar results this year. Performance appraisals in current role have been "Exceeds Expectations" & "Improving". Duties are expanding into new responsibilities where prior experience has me labeled most knowledgable. My competition: one level below my current job, office job, very little field experience & face time w/ customers, employed with company shorter time but longer in related field however outdated experience in expanding role, assume equivalent preformance reviews, no bonus structure. We differ by race or gender. Hiring manager is not my current boss & works in office w/ my competition, is opposite gender or race of competition. "Don't see a situation where you don't get the job"- Hiring manager's boss

Like the first answer, BUT the hiring manager's boss knows me pretty well and his role in the interview process is to confirm the hiring decision is correct. He is also in the same building as my competition, but likely gets less exposure with the hiring managers boss than I get.

It sounds like they went with the person they knew and not the one qualified. I wouldn't call it discrimination unless your company has a "quota" they follow. And that's a shame, find another company that will value your worth and not you sex or skin.

med schools don't really know or care you transferred from a community college, because at the end of the day to get into med school you already have to have completed your bachelors degree, and you get the same bachelors degree regardless if you started at a university or a community college and transferred for your last 2 years.
