Would you settle for an instrumental? How about "Linus & Lucy" - the Peanuts theme song?

The only other song (that's NOT "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds") I immediately recall is Deep Purple's "Knocking at Your Back Door" that starts with the lyrics:

"Sweet Lucy was a dancer
But none of us would chance her
Because she was a samurai
She made electric shadows
Beyond our fingertips
And none of us could reach that high
She came on like a teaser
I had to touch and please her
Enjoy a little paradise
The log was in my pocket
When Lucy met the rockett
She never knew the reason why..."

Not exactly the most chaste song to pick for your daughter, though! I think I'd stick with the instrumental.

Good luck!

Lucy by Hanson
The day that I left Lucy
A tear fell from her eye
Now I don't have nobody, and I was such a fool
On the day that I left Lucy
The day that I left Lucy she cried, then said goodbye
Now it's done, and it's over, and I am all alone
On the day that I left Lucy
Now I don't have anymore songs to sing
'Cause you were everything, everything to me
I didn't realise I felt this way, until that day

Today I'm missing Lucy, and you say that she's OK, I hope she is.
Now I don't have nobody and no one will ever replace...
My Lucy
I love Lucy, Lucy...
On the day that I left Lucy...my Lucy

the official opening words to the theme song for the "I Love Lucy" show were...*ahem* "I love Lucy, and she loves me. We're as happy as two can be, and life is heaven you see, 'cause Lucy loves me!"

Well, maybe not official, but I'm pretty sure those are the correct lyrics.

The band Candlebox has a song titled "Lucy"

Anoher lie for us to live in.
Pages pick it up anytime she likes.
Another life for her to put down, pick it up, pick it up.
Anytime she might find enough to, enought to get her high.
And I'll get her high

Turn it off, I found her weakness
Bones filled with memories shavings.
Lead into something better,
I heard it yesterday.
Old news my friend,
She's broken hearted...
I know, she'd seen it all along,
She's better off lately.
They said it's all she's after,
Everytime, Everytime, yeah
Can she free it,
Has it all been wasted.
Can we see her one last time?
Another lie for her to live in.
Breakdowns, pull her out and knock us down everytime.
Another time for her to find out,
She'll let it go blue,
And then she'll fall down. Gently,
Until she's broken hearted...
I know, she's seen it all along,
She's better off lately.
They said it's all she's after,
Everytime, Everytime, yeah.
Can she free it,
Has it all been wasted.
Can she free it one last time?
Can she free it?
(see her one last time...)
So when she lays her head down,
Do you read all the thought that she feeds aloud
She can, she can see through
And when she says she found out,
All the things that she thought we could read about,
She can, she can see through.
When she said she played out,
All the dreams that she thought she could dream about,
Do you feel, do you feel, do you feel,
Do you feel the need to break free?
You don't need to take me...
Lay her down, lay it.
Lucy, lucy, lucy, lucy, lucy...
