Because of our moron of a president. Marriage, whether it be between a man, and a woman, or a woman and a woman, or a man and a man, is a wonderful thing. It should be celebrated no matter what.

I'm not sure why. You should try living in Australia. We are fighting a losing battle. I like our Prime Minister in the way he runs our country but don't get me started on same sex marriages.

He is religious and the religious standings seem to have more strength in them than anyone's rights. The courts also find it to be that way too.

I think maybe both of our countries politicians are running scared because of the backlash it would create for a time. I mean if boring old UK can do it then why can't our countries.

Because America is land of the free true. But no one read the fine print. You know the right to hate and all that nonsence. The sad fact is that America is far behind other countrys. Most people think that people in england are Prudes and stuffy but the truth is they are more liberal then americans. So sad truth is america is far behind.

The USA's social climate is very conservative largely because of the influence of the values of the Puritans who settled here second (after the natives).

They were ultra-religious folk who rarely bathed because they'd have to get naked, but burned lots of women alive for suspicion of witchcraft. Oh, and helped start the genocide of the native peoples.

majority of the people living in the usa are very conservative and that goes for many of our leaders. many people are brought up to believe that same sex marriage is wrong and are led to keep up these beliefs until they can learn for themselves that in fact is not wrong and usually by then its too late
