yeah, if you mean your registry, don't mess with it unless you REALLY know what you're doing. If you mean DOS, you can't if you're running windows xp...it no longer has a DOS shell. If you just want a command prompt, you can go to start>all programs>accessories>command prompt. Program files can be accessed through My Computer>local disk

Directory is accessed through My Computer and then select drive that you want to view, Or are you talking about the registry? If this is what your looking for, don't bother, because if you don't know what your doing, you won't be able to e-mail a question to get help for whatever you @#$%! up
