Im trying stopzilla spyware protection, but of course it only removes spyware if u register and pay for the service, but im not gonna even pay for that. However, im just tryin it out to see how it works. I just wonder if its any good, and if its spyware in itself, casue some spyware removers are spyware too.

I believe that one actually is spyware in itself.. i can't remember. I believe people have had nothing but problems running that program. I suggest uninstalling, and running Ad-Aware to more than likely get rid of the crap it put on your computer.

The one that I know works really super well is Ad-Aware. It's absoultely the best. I use it as my spyware program and ZoneAlarm as a firewall. Others like the Windows Deffender program. I personally don't.

They're both free and very well known. The free Ad-Aware, you have to run on your own once a week or whenever to look for critters. If you pay, it has a running all the time type of setup that would probably be better.

Whenever I go to fix some friends computer, I always bring these two programs. Almost always gets rid of all the bugs, in turn unfreezing their computer or making it loads faster.

I've heard of stopzilla, and (I) must admit that I haven't tried it yet.
Two buds of my have, and they were NOT impressed... One related to me that it constantly made his, "puter" lock up for a week, so he uninstalled it. The other said that his router warned him that stopzilla kept sending an internet, "pulse" back to their servers!
I'm also like you though- I hate paying for utils. that should be free and on the computer when you buy it!
The suggestions to go to Microsoft's web site and dnload their
free spyware util. are good ones, until you consider this:
The majority of hackers write their code based on what Micosoft
comes out with..... My suggestion?
Go to www.zonelabs.com and download their flagship product:
Zone Alarm. I've used it since they first came out , and NEVER
paid a cent for it (and no, I am NOT a rep. for the company!).
It includes a software firewall (disable your Windows Firewall- it has been thoughly hacked as well), virus scanner, and spyware detector built in and best of all..............IT'S FREE! They let you use the PRO version of the software for 15 days, and after that,
it automatically downgrades itself to the regular version (still having firewall and spyware filter). It's been rated the best by:
G4 TV
Maximum PC Magazine
and PC World (to name a few).

Hope this helps and sorry that I couldn't make this answer shorter! ;-)

hi, Stopzillla is not a good software to remove spyware. perhaps you can try norton or Macfee, or spyware doctore to remove the spyware, these three software all need a fee to use..

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox cannot remove the spyware, but it can disable this spyware to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

The best way to protect yourself from spyware would be to install Windows Defender & Ad Aware.

There are way too many "fake" spyware adware and virus protection programs out there to take a chance.

Also for virus protection, I use Avast Antivirus.

Dirty_Ranja: Take a pill or something.

Although he IS right. Spysweeper is the best anti-spyware program... if you want to cough up the bucks. Otherwise, stick to Ad-aware and Spybot S&D. They don't suck. In actuality, Spysweeper, although the best, still doesn't catch everything. It's best to have at least two, maybe three, different anti-spyware programs.

Had it. Used it, Hated it, because the damn thing would allow the pop-ups in, and then it would block them. And there was no way to set security controls to keep this from happening. Go to MORPEHUS, get Avast, or Outpost firewall, these are better and both can be gotten via shareware or p2p.
