Motrin in better than Tylenol for cramps. A heating pad works good also. When its that time of month for me I eat alot of bananas. If you search online for benefits of bananas it will list that as one good benefits. They help me alot. If I didn't eat the bananas I would be in pain for 4 days and in bed.
Good Luck
Something I fouExercise gently involving the abdominal region, or walking
Heat on the abdomen - the old standby - try a hot bath or a hot water bottle
Essential oil of lavender rubbed into crampy areas feels great. Lavender is known for its relaxing calming effect
Distraction. If your discomfort is mild, trying doing an activity that takes a lot of attention, like a good movie, playing a sport, etc.
Raspberry leaf tea. This is considered to be a good uterine tonic; some women find that drinking it before their periods helps with cramps. Follow the directions on the box. I haven't tried this one but know some women that have.
Try taking a calcium supplement regularly (I take even more during my cycle) and eating high calcium foods - this one worked for me.
Eating lighter and healthier around menstruation -- less grease, less starch, more fruits and vegetables.
Ginkgo - try a ginkgo supplement, there is some evidence that this can help - it also makes you smarter

Try ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) if you're not allergic to an aspirin or related product. Acetominophen works fairly well but may not relieve severe cramps. You might also try Premysyn PMS, or any of the Midol or Pamprin versions that are for severe period pain. Also try drinking 6 to 8 eight ounce glasses of water at least a week before and during your period. It will actually help reduce retained fluid and cleanse your body of toxins.
One of the best and oldest remedies to try in conjunction with the pain relievers is also a hot water bottle filled up with fairly hot water. Make sure to put a cloth around the hot water bottle as you can still get burns from the bottle if exposed to it for long periods of time.
Those should help. Hope you can sleep and the pain goes away!

Regular exercise, believe it or not, will significantly reduce cramps. I used to have severe dysmenorrhea (bad cramps) so much so that I had a standing doctor's note to leave school at "that time", and I don't have them as bad anymore, so I know what I'm talking about.
If you want immediate relief for them NOW, the only thing for that will be a nice comfortable heating pad and some pain medication. Also, try lying on your back with your legs slightly above you (on a couple of pillows), or even better, pull them so that your knees are up to the lower half of your belly. This may help, as the uterus can relax in this position. They say orgasm also helps, and this is true. LOL...reallly.
In the future, get a multi-vitamin if you don't already take one...and start taking it. Increase anti-oxidant rich foods and fiber. For some women, a low-dose birth control pill can help with cramps. If you eat a lot of sweet or salty foods, cut that out...the cramps will reduce or disappear. I promise. Cutting out caffeine helps greatly.
Finally, one thing you can to tonight is to take a warm bath with some mineral salts (like sea salt) and baking soda.
Hope you feel better.

I haven't had cramps in a few years - ever since I've been taking 400mg's of Vitamin B-2 every single morning.
And 100mg's of Vitamin B-6, starting on the day I ovulate and ending on the day my period starts.
There actually was a month when I never got around to refilling my vitamins and the cramps came again. That was just a good reminder to me that taking the Vitamins were worth it.
That night I took an Aleve and used my heating pad ;-)

Yeah I know exactly how you feel. What i do is drink some warm tea and take some advil and go right to sleep. It might take a few to kick in, but the heat from the tea will help soothe down your pain. If you have a heating pad, lay down in bed and place it over your stomach. If not, every now and then you can place the cup against your stomach (this is so the heat from the cup will rub against your stomach and again soothe the pain) but be careful not to spill it :-)

If you are not allergic to Ibuprofen, take the max dose. Put a heating pat or warm towel on you tummy and/ or back....wherever it hurts. Find an interesting program on tv or read a book. Stay away from caffeine. Guaranteed to help you sleep!

take a warm bath 1st. after wards, put a heating pad on your tummy and lower back if it hurts, take some midol, it always works for me...takes a while to kick in, but once it does, it really works. stay away from carbinated drinks and caffeene. find something to distract you, a good movie, book, tv program, what ever your interested in. lay down. also, take a vitimin that has iron in it. durring your period you loose alot iron.

ohh mann trust me i know exactly what ur talking bout. i used to get pains so bad all i could do is cry, lay on the florr in fetal position,(which didnt work for me.. but apparently for some ppl it does) and i could like barely eat or talk. it was terrible. my doctor put me on birth control. and it works a whole lot better, he also perscribed pills for cramps thta im supposed to take when i feel cramps from my period coming on. try visisting youre doctor if its as severe as mine... if its jsut normal cramps, i heard eating bananas works lol.. and laying in the fetal position.. and having a warm bath and relaxing and a hot water bottle resting on ur tummy. even try the midol , and tylenol also has specail pain relievers just for menstual cramps. lol... ive looked for everything possible lol.. but again if nothing works and its still really bad.. visit your doctor. mine helped me out.
