I think being famous is a double edged sword. On one hand you want/need the attention in order to make the $$. Remember the old saying, "there is *NO* such thing as *BAD* publicity". If the drunk irate driver stopped wasn't Mel Gibson then you're right... No one would really care, but it *WAS* Mel Gibson. I think it's especially true when a public figure has made it a point to share their opinions on things. Human nature makes us stop on the news report of the latest "star news". It's interesting when we see the stars are prone to the same pitfalls as the rest of us "normal" human beings... The only ones I feel really sorry for are the kids of the stars who get drug into the spotlight just because of who mommy or daddy is.

No, it doesn't matter. A big deal is being made of it because he's a Hollywood figure who believes in and makes movies about Jesus, and the majority of Hollywood and the media hate Jesus, so they can't pass up the opportunity to kick Mel while he's down. If he were a Buddhist or into Kaballah, no one in Hollywood or the media would care.

To be honest, I could give a s.h.i.t..........
There are far more important things in the world than Mel Gibson's melt down.......And think about it. Had he not come forth with an apology, would anyone know what he said that night? I don't think so!
Oh, yeah....and I still wouldn't care!

I agree with you 100% it was rude and racist of him but he was drunk and he his apology seems great. I am not Jewish so I personally do not think I can honestly answer this question but I truthfully think he is a good man. Plus there are WAY worse things going on in the world and I think we need to put this hole ordeal behind us.

Everybody makes mistakes! Even though he may have more advantages then most people, he still is a human being and is allowed to stumble like everyone else. As long as he is accountable for his actions, as he has shown already, and does not repeat the mistake, then let him recover in privacy (especially if he needs professional help).

Its no secret that he harbors anti-semetic beliefs. His father was the same way so its kind of grown with him since childhood.
Alcohol doesnt make you do things you dont want, it brings out whats within you. Im just happy we all know what he had in mind with Passion, its a stupid sado-masochist snuff film and now we all know Mel was alluding to anti-semitism. So im happy this happened.

No it doesnt matter to me.If he stars in a good movie , Ill watch it.Every one makes mistakes in life but when we do its not publicized like when a celebrity does. They are human just like us.As far as racisim,Theres plenty african american comics dogging whites on comedy central with no apologies , just a bunch of laughs. So i think evryone should get over it and move on.

Ofcourse it doesn't matter since though he is an actor of great calibre, but basically he too is a simple humanbeing and apt to make such kinds of unavoidable happenings....and since he had apologized and ready to face the legality of the incidence, I think we should make much fuss about his driving drunk.

i dont think it matters that he got a dui. what matters is that a lot of people get dui's all the time and pay severe penalties for it. criminal records, court time, community service time, even jail time. but since he's a celebrity he doesnt get any of this. just a slap on the wrist and a pat on the rear and thats it. thats what makes it matter. the fact that since hes a celebrity, he is treated differently.
