My biggest suggestion would be not to go jet black -- but to keep you hair a nice dark brown. Talk to a hair salon and have them help you. You don't want to do your eyebrows on your own, because you might damage your eyes with chemicals. Let the professionals help you, and let them advise you.

Any decent name brand hair dye will take brown hair to black. It's really easy to go down a shade; now, if you wanted to go blonde, that would be more difficult. When people dye their eyebrows, it tends to look very fake. If you were blonde, you might have to, but since you are naturally a darker color, the difference won't be noticeable. Also, if you decide to dye your eyebrows, you will need to have a professional do it; if you use the home hair dye kits and it drips into eyes, it can cause some damage. My favorite brand of hair dye is called Garnier Nutriesse, or something like that. It smells good, and isn't too harsh.
Hope this helps!

Depending on how long your hair is, you might want to go to a hairdresser the first time, or get someone else to do it for you.

As for your eyebrows, it's not really necessary. The first time I dyed my eyebrows was the only time. They were dramatically noticable. You'll also want to be careful if you do dye your eyebrows, cause if you get any in your eye you can go blind.

If you're looking for a product to put in yourself, go with any well known name brand, I've found there's not much difference in use. After you dye your hair, wash everytime with cold/cool water. Warm water causes the colour to come out quicker.

Pick a black that will look nice with your skin tone - a blue black may be too extreme. Especially since it's still summer, and with the sun it may lighten it a bit. Any of the boxed hair dyes should be fine. I would avoid dying your eyebrows.

Depending on what color your hair is now...I would strongly recommend that you try a medium to dark brown before you just go straight black...because you may not like it and once it's done...the only way to change it lighter again will be to use bleach & strip the color out. This would be very damaging to your hair. If you want an over the counter color...you could really use anything from a box. However, avoid any color that says it offers multi-faceted color...these contain damaging ingredients that may cause you not to be able to have things like perms, body waves, or highlights or lightening services. They could cause your hair to become stringy & stretchy!Good Luck...

If your hair is dark brown. you should be able to just go to a light black color. Both myself and my sister use Loreal Preference on our hair. It is the best we have found that does not damage your hair. I would not dye your eyebrows. I have seen it cause some serious damage to the eye. ( I work as an RN in the Emergency room). Anyway good luck.

Ok, from my own personal experience...dont go all the way black. Because yeah, it is a pain to get out if you want to go lighter in the future.
I'd go to the salon and not get the store box kind. Because the ones in stores use a metalic dye that is hard to lighten. If you do want to do it yourself, go to a beauty store and by the profesional kind because that way it is easier to lighten up.
When I tried to go lighter, it didn't work so my salon lady used the strongest bleach they had and my roots turned yellow/orange. it was terrible.

There really isn't a best type of hair color to use, if you're buying a box. A lot of your results will depend on if you plan to use permanent or semi-permanent. I wouldn't recommend permanent if you change your hair color a lot, or if you don't plan on sticking with black a long time. It can take a lot of work to get it out. If you just want to try it, go with semi-permanent. It will gradually fade back to your normal color. Also a lot depends on if you're coloring for the first time, or if you have colored your hair before. So I would suggest sticking with semi-permanent until you decide if you really really like it or not.
You don't really need to do your eyebrows too, unless they are really light.
