Is my computer just being stupid or did Myspace.com remove the search by name/nickname/email address feature?

Yes, I've noticed that too. You are not alone in your frustrations. Myspace has been overhauling alot of things recently (I'm sure you've noticed), so I say just sit tight, and let them work all the kinks out. I'm sure that's a feature that will return, but probably got erased temporarily by mistake. :)

till eventually you for my area deleted your e-mail account, it retains to be there. in easy words pondering the very fact that you dont use it, doesnt propose its now no longer there. my optonline e-mail from even as i replaced into 11 years previous retains to be operating, yet i havent used it in 10 years

It seems to come and go as they are overhaulin' their site. It worked this morning when I used it.
