Do you think that J.K. Rowling should kill off Harry Potter &/or any of the main characters in the last book?

I just heard on the radio that Rowling stated that 2 of the main characters will be killed off in the last book?

Do you think that's a good ending? If so, why?
& if not, what do you think would be a good ending?

As much as I don't like it, I think it is totally possible that J.K. Rowling might kill off Harry. If you remember the article, she said that there is a good side to killing off your main character. When she is dead and gone, no one will be able to come back and write Harry because he already died; it would be satisfactory to know that no one will come back and take over you masterpiece.

Here is a list of people besides Harry that I think might perish.

Ron: Besides being Harry's best mate, we haven't really seen him prove himself in times of danger and battle. He showed his strengths back in Book 1 when during the giant chess match during the hunt for the Philosopher's Stone. There is a theory that Ron will sacrifice himself for Harry in the final match against Voldemort.

Pettigrew: Do I have to explain it? Let's see... He betrayed the Potters, he helped Voldemort get his body back, and is an all-around bad guy. I think it's time to go, and that the life-debt that he has to Harry will be involved somehow.

Draco: I think that apart from being "bad", Draco is really a tragic character. His family are Death Eaters. He's got a lot to live up to. I got the kind of feeling that he was forced in the Book 6 to serve Voldemort. All the stress he underwent, the frustration, the anxiety... I mean, the poor boy was misguided. Remember that he is only about 17. People can make horrible mistakes when they are at that age. Unfortunately in Draco's case, it might cost him his life. He's in too deep.

Professor Trelawney: I think there is a possibility of her death in Book 7. She's always predicting how people will die, and seeing strange, dark omens everywhere. I think that is a kind of subtle foreshadowing. She sees death everywhere, why can't it be hers? I just wonder how this would play out, and how important it would be to the actual plot.

Snape: This guy has played both sides-- good and evil, Dumbledore against Voldemort. He's had to have fooled someone because I don't think that he is out just for himself. I'm really hoping in the final book that he turns out to be good because I don't want Dumbledore to have been wrong. I would be upset if that happened. I also wish then that he dies in Harry's defense, or by Voldemort. We'll just have to wait and see what happens to this particular character. I'm just dying for Book 7!!

Percy: Hmm... Anyone sure which side he is really on?

Who will get a reprieve? (JKR said in a very recent interview that she gave a certain character a reprieve from dying) I have an inkling that it is one of the Dursleys.... or Snape.

Two characters killed is not how I picture the last book. But, if we stick with just two being killed, here is my list:

1. Ginny. She will be by Harry's side doing battle. That is just Ginny. Everyone that Harry has ever been close to he has lost -- his parents, Sirius Black, and Dumbledore so far.

2. Snape. Every good person in the wizarding world will be on the search for Snape since he ultimately DID betray Dumbledore and then kill him. I don't really know if it will be Harry that kills him.

Now, if MORE THAN 2 Characters are kills, I go with #1 and #2 above plus:

3. Bellatrix LeStrange. I believe if she is killed, it will be in a battle with Neville Longbottom. We have seen Neville grow stronger in every book and also seen his desire to get revenge for the torture of his parents.

4. Ron Weasley. Somehow in a battle, Ron will sacrifice himself for the good of Harry and the wizarding world.

5. Voldemort. We all know that if that happens, it will have to be Harry Potter that does the deed.

6. Harry Potter. I don't have a theory as to how or why Harry would be killed, but the author may kill him off if she wants to prevent other authors from continuing her story with other books.

I hope Harry is NOT killed and JK Rowling continues to write another series about Harry Potter. Also, I think there is enough background material to write at least one book on the Weasley Twins -- a book full of humor and excellent magic.

A book or two that goes back in time all the way to the Hogwarts founders would be awesome stories as well. Side-stories that cover the lineage of Salazar Slytherin, Godric Gryffindor (is Harry actually a decendent of Gryffindor we all wonder?), the Black family lineage, and the history of Hogwarts Headmasters.

We already know all there is to know about Tom Riddle and Voldemort, so a book about that would be redundant.

I am anxiously awaiting the final book. I hope I am not disappointed. I don't have too many ideas for how the book will finally end except for Snape and Ginny to get killed somehow. If Voldemort and Harry are killed, then any future books would simply lack substance, I am afraid, and leave little to read about.

Well, because I love the books, I truly hope none of the main characters die -- but then of course I'm still shocked about Dumbledore from book 6. In my fantasy world, Harry kills Voldemort, marries Ginny....Hermione and Ron marry and they all live near each other and raise little wizard babies. However, I imagine Rowling is going to have to take out one or more main characters simply for the sake the story demands it -- she can't wimp out now. I'm afraid she may even kill our hero...Harry.

I think killing Harry is the perfect ending.

If J.K. Rowling didn't kill of Harry, they'd make her write Harry Potter books until she died. It'll free her up creatively, and I think we, the readers, might find there's more to her than just Harry Potter. Personally, I'm curious to see what else she'll write.

yes, i think that two of the main characters are going to die. i strongly suspect that it will be harry and voldemort. this is why.

i think that harry is a horcrux. so to kill voldemort, harry will first have to finish the rest of the horcruxes and then voldemort, finally himself. now, how did harry turn into a horcrux?well, when voldemort killed lily potter, he must have known she gave harry a protection. so with the death of lily potter, he converted harry into a horcrux. then killed himself.

voldemort:harry will have to destroy himself but it wont be any se if voldemort doesnt die.so if harry dies, voldemort dies.

i don't only htink that they will die though those are my strongest suspectz. i have a great many more ideas

3. hermione: i think that hermione might die becuse malfoy would have told voldy that hermione was harry's best friend.so,voldemort might have killed her to get harry to fight alone not to mention torture him.

4. ron: ron is harry's best friend and one of the weaslys. the wesleys have been blood traitors for years. so that might be one reason. the other is the same reason for hermione's death.

5.dumbledore::now you might say that dumbledore is already deade. i dont think so. when a pheonix dies,it bursts into flames and then in the ashes you can c a small chick.the same process repeats. dumbledore was a really great wizard. maybe the same happens to him. if voldy finds out, then he'll obviously want to finish him off too.

sirius black: there was no proof that sirius actually died. his body was never found. so if voldemort finds out he'll want to finish him off!!

peter pettigrew: he is a big fat bag of scum. voldemort might get bored with him and finish him off!!

minerva mcgonnagal:she is a member of the order of the pheonix, and a friend of harry's.the evil guy will want her dead.

severus snape:i do believe that snape is on the good side after all and when(if) voldemort finds out, he'll kill him.

remus lupin:he was biten by the death eater werewolf greyback and was supposed to turn bad after that-but he didn't! and he's a member of the order of the pheonix, so the deatheaters and voldy will want him dead.

rufus scrimegour:he is the minister for magic. they want him dead.(duh!)

mad eyed moody: he put loads of death eaters into azkaban. so the evil side would just love to take revenge!

ginny weasley: voldemort will like torturing harry by killing his girlfriend.

draco malfoy: i just hope he dies! the nasty little brat!!

if two are killed off i might thinkit as a good ending if they are bad but if they are really good people, then i'm afraid i might feel really really sad for such a horrible ending. all the same, its gonna be the last book -and its just fiction. magic isn't really real.it would have been so cool if it was.and its just a novel. there will be tons of new books to look up to!!

but i will never ever forget the harry potter books no matter how many books i read. they were the most interesting books which i read.

she said tht 'at least 2 char.' would be killed off,we assume one is voldie,other is harry,it may or not be harry. but it's almost certain tht ms rowling would kill harry.she's been dropping hints a long time. also,hermione n ron will sruvive,get really close if harry dies,they start a r'ship.but ron n hermione r not really suited 4 each other as they too diff. n alwiz arguing,major changes needed.hope harry doesn't die but ms rowling holds all d cards,she calls d shots.she says harry is good as dead...
d best ending would be a celebration bet. harry,herm.,ron at fall of voldie.but it's nt gonna happen.it's gonna be a funeral.

she said that she first taught to kill 3 characters but one got reprieve. she is sure to kill harry in the end so that no one can continue the harry potter book. i dont thik that killing harry is a good end may be she can end the story more in a different way without killing the main character. she already killed the main characters in the book like sirius, dumbeldore and i dont want her to kill harry also.

Perhaps because it might add to the anticipation or at least make them REALLY close to dying but not make it too dramatic. I* du9nno but there are a lot of rumors that she is going to kil of Harry Potter and the truth is, I don't like the character but I do like the books.

I have no idea who the two that die will be. Initially she stated that three died but then because of public outcry she gave one a reprieve. I want to see Harry, Ron, and Hermione get on that train one last time after their last year before they depart to live their lives as adult wizards. I can't stand having to wait so long to find out who dies and what happens. You can hear the actual press conference here.

I don't think she should kill off harry but then again if she doesn't want others to be writing what happens after he graduates then she should kill him off so no one else can write books about him.
