I need to create a series of 6 projects weaving a common theme through each. Any ideas? Its for a ceramics class and I have to find a way to use the theme in my pottery later on. But for now I just need some ideas.

I need to create a series of 6 projects weaving a common theme through each. Any ideas? Its for a ceramics class and I have to find a way to use the theme in my pottery later on. But for now I just need some ideas. They have to be collages/examples of my own work (photography, painting, drawings, etc) and whatever theme i express in those will later be translated somehow into my pottery. Confusing I know haha

Pick a broad category like nature, water, science, geography, sports, Asia, food, people, etc. Any broad category will let you do just about anything for each project and still have it tie together.

There are quite a few theme that you can apply for this project. I did quite a lot of projects on that before.
Say you took a few photographs/painting/sketches of nature, specifically on organic stuff from leaves or branch. From there you need to do a precedent studies on the details of your subject. Go into the detail of the pattern of your subject.
Or it could be some geometric patterns that derives from buildings, windows, your speaker, anything.
Remember all these stuff; organic or gemetric can be tranlated in a form of repetition or some other pattern and will be good for your pottery.
Here's a few sites for you to check on pottery images.

Fish. I make them regularly in steel. I do many other things as well but I never get tired of fish although most of mine are imaginary. Have you ever seen the National Geographic documentary about the very very deep ocean depths they are now reaching with high tech submarines. They have found an abundance of life they didn't expect including the most unusual looking fish. The shapes, sizes, colors and graceful movement inspire me. The fish theme could be applied to anything! Hope it helps!

You could make a series of pottery pieces in the various stages of making, with the first one a lump of partially formed clay and the sixth one a beautiful piece. You could call it "Birth" or something like that.
How about a piece in each color of the rainbow?
