Tonight I went to a local family type eatery, for supper. I got a plate that included a scoop of chicken salad. a huge chunk of watermelon, a slice of cantaloupe, a slice of honeydew melon, a handful of seedless gapes, and two small slices of banana walnut bread. The cost for this plate was $5.99. Afterwards, I ordered a slice of carrot cake. The cost for the cake was $4.99. With a glass of tea, I paid over $13.00 for this meal, before the tip.I didn't ask about the price, before paying, because it didn't occur to me, I needed to.

I think that charging five bucks for a slice of cake is rediculous. What do you think?

You know why I think it's ridiculous? You spent almost as much for the slice of cake as you did for your whole meal.

You know what, though? You are great and you deserve to splurge on yourself every now and then. I bet it was delicious cake!!!!!

That's pretty standard. Most restaurants that sell desserts usually charge between 3 and 5 dollars for the dessert, depending on how nice it is :-)
I had dinner the other day at McCallisters, and paid $4.99 for a brownie with ice cream.
Hope the cake was good!

I agree, you could probably make your own carrot cake for that price or just a wee bit more.

I rarely, if ever, buy dessert at a restaurant for that same reason. The same goes for a drink. I think it's ridiculous to spend $1.50 for a drink.

I agree with you though, unfotunately, you can only complain or not go there anymore.

OR...you can go to somewhere else that specializes in dessert.

$4.99 is nothing compared to a slice of cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory. They want $8 and up for a slice.

I do agree with you. This inflation needs to come WAY DOWN!!

The price is what they want to charge. II they can get $4.99 for it then it is not too expensive. If nobody was willing to pay that then they would lower the price.
