Why are people so fascinated with Brangelina, Britney, JLo, Jessica, TomKat and Paris? Whenever I see a magazine with them on it I walk right past it. Am I the only one in the world who is tired of these people?

There are many reasons people are fascinated with "celebrities" in general. Some people find their own lives boring, and look to someone who seems "to have it all." I guess it is cheap "entertainment."
And some people believe the "media" when the "media" holds some celebrity up as being a role model, or someone special. Because America has no "royalty" such as England, I think this is the replacement for a queen or king. And about as much use, too.
Probably many people look to "celebrities" because of their low self esteem. These are the people who will follow any fashion, any part of the lifestyle of a "celebrity" they can because it will make them feel better. After all, how can a "celebrity" be wrong if she/he is rich and famous?
I personally have not paid attention to "celebrities." Not because I "hate" them, but because they are just people. And, yes, I am sick and tired of the print media (and TV) continually holding up certain "celebrities" as being so important. Why is what one of these think any more interesting than what your neighbor thinks? If we simply regard the celebrities as just ordinary people, people who have likes and dislikes like we do, then we are all right. Who knows? Some of these "celebrities" may be very nice people! But "hero worship?" No way; celebrate your own life!!

The one thing that ticks me off about celebrities is the adulation and kudos that the media gives them every time they donate money or volunteer to be the figurehead for a organization..example.. Jolie ...
Now I admire the work she does, but there are people in the trenches everyday who don't look for praise or publicity for what they do to help their fellow man..
People who volunteer everyday to feed the homeless, care for the sick or elderly or mentor a child in danger of living a life of crime...These are the real heros of the world . Not the big shots.
We are a country that is too obsessed with celebrity in this country..Remember, they are human just like the rest of us..Not
gods......

No - you're just a 'cut above'...... No one is better or more interesting than anyone else. How would you like to be one of those people - with everyone knowing all of your business. They're making money being a star - because being on those pages makes people remember you - but privacy and relationships are a big price to pay for being known. I feel sorry for them...actually.

Sorry but I'm probably one of those people you hate because those are the magazines I read (over the summer) lol I don't know why maybe because over the summer I have no life and need to get into some body's business to make makeup for my lack of events. Lol

i understand what u mean... but i love angelina joile she is a great woman and role model.. shes out there saving the world with all that money! and jlo... i respect her cuz shes came from nothing to everyhitng with her foot in all the doors, and i admit that she is a control freak and what not but she has pput alot into her life!!

I know. The only celebs I like hearing about are the ones that make me feel better about myself. Like Nicole Ritchie (Arg! Skeletal!), Lindsey Lohan (on her way to rehab?), and well, Tom Cruise (Whoa there, Crazy.)
