In the song, it sounds as though Anthony Kedis (sp?) attempts to mock an Asian language, as perhaps a racist or a 1st grader would do? It sounds like some sad excuse to speak Thai, to me. Even as just a white person, I find this really offensive. Am I alone in this?

I doubt it's meant to be offensive. in the song "Soul to Squeeze" he made random sounds like he did in "Around the World" not "Asian" sounding. so i think it's just pure coincidence. i'm not offended, and my grandmother is japanese (japanese is her native language) and my step-grandmother is thai (thai is her native language). it's just his style. in fact, i didn't think about it until now. and i get offended easily when it comes to the asian language and when people mock it lol, so i still think it is coincidence. it is just how people hear it i suppose. everything is different. :)

If you wikipedia the song it explains that keidis had problems coming up with lyrics for the song so used 'scat' (random sounds). Flea's daughter insisted they keep the sounds in after they had actually been taken out. So its not racist, just a bunch of random noises. I think the red hot chili peppers are too left wing to be racist at all, and considering the song is all about how beautiful life and the world is, i doubt he's going to through in some racism

You are so alone in this. I totally didn't get the whole mocking a language thing, I don't think it sounds like "Asian" and that's like my favorite part of that song. The Chili Peppers sing weird noises all the time especially live. And Anthony's really against racism (I think he's part American Indian) hence the song Power of Equaility and Johnny Kick a Hole in the Sky. Come on it's the Chili Peppers they do funky stuff all the time, that's what makes them so cool!! And for real, if your that easily offened the weird noises offend you but not the mother f*ckin part??

It s not offensive because people think they are liberals so it s ok. If it was a conservative saying this then people everyone would freak out. They are totally mocking an Asian language or accent of some sort. I don t think Asians are offended as easily or care as much, but it s a ridiculous thing to put in a song.

lol, yea that is pretty ridiculous. I know that exact part, the first time I heard the song I was trying to figure out if he was mocking the Asian community or not. Anthony is just crazy, and he says absurd things.

I wonder what Asians do to mock us, like what weird ubsurd sounds the make to mock us.

1. That's really the wrong question. The proper question is "Is it offensive?"
2. The answer to that would appear to be "Yes" based on the answers given here to the proper question. Even though they all say "No," their reasoning is highly flawed.

Well, let me put it this way.............Stars don't care WHAT kind of attention they get, as long as they get some...........I don't care what they sing about, it's all about the money they make and the attention they receive..............Take care..........
