Mahogany is much darker with reddish/purple tone and it is a harder wood and more expensive. Pine is blond. You can stain pine with mahogany to get a richer wood look without the high price.

Well in case you havent gotten a good answer mahogany is dark and brown but purple or red and pine is light colord or bright kinda the diff of salt and pepper mahogany being pepper and salt the pine .

african , honduran and philipine mahogany are all three darker than any pine wood.

the only close match would be philipine mahogany and sugar pine , but the mahogany is still slightly darker .

sorta depends on the stain, two very different woods like mahogany is a hard wood used to make boats and good old soft pine that can be stained very dark in fact i condition pine so it doesn't turn black on me
