Flies have an incredible sense of smell, or olfaction (the scientific name for smell). They smell via olfactory sensors in their antennae, believe it or not. There are many scientific studies showing that flies like certain odors and hate others. "The researchers measured a strong reaction for example, when the fly was stimulated with 1-octen-3-ol, a substance present in meat, and 3-methylphenol, which is found in chicken manure. For the fly, these substances are like an attractive perfume." Haha, Eau de Manure... a great perfume :-) what the fly puts on for a date at the movies (of course they are going to watch "The Fly" ) :-) (Well, definitely NOT "Spiderman" anyway.) :-)
