Looking at this season's team, they have a better chance than they did last year.

Offensively, they signed Brian Griese at QB. This allows the offense to have a veteran QB under center for the first two spots. While Orton did nicely under rough circumstances, Grossman and Griese would provide a better arm and make defenses more wary. Jones and Benson running the ball should make for a wicked 1-2 combo against rush defenses. Both are solid runners that can blast through any hole in the line and be able to lay down a few hits against would-be tacklers. Adrian Peterson as a change-of-pace back provides them with the needed shock-style running that many teams desire (pound the line and then pound again). Muhsin Muhammad will rebound from a subpar year, and with Mark Bradley, Airese Currie, Rashied Davis, and Bernard Berrian currently in the mix for the #2 and slot WR positions, the passing game should turn out phenomenal. Tim Day and Desmond Clark at TE should also provide the offense with some additional support, especially with the reports out of camp stating how impressive those two have been recently.

Defensively, hunker down for a war. All of the starters are back, plus they have added a couple nasty new players to the secondary. Ricky Manning Jr. and Dante Wesley will bulk up the CB posts with Nathan vasher while Charles Tillman will work the SS spot. Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, and Hunter Hillenmeyer will simply dominate the middle of the field and shut down the short pass and long-run games of opposing offenses. Urlacher is even trying to post a 5 - 5 minimum season (5 sacks, 5 INTs). The front line with Ian Scott, Adewale Ogunleye, Alex Brown, and Tommie Harris have remained solid and will continue to dismantle the rushing game of just about anyone who opposes them.

While I was not initially impressed with the draft choices, Devin Hester and Danieal Manning should provide a good challenge for the veterans at their positions and maybe even get some playing time as backups. Dusty Dvoracek could also give Tommie Harris a run for his money at DT (which makes that position extremely solid on that team).

Alex Bannister on the Special Teams unit, as well as Dante Wesley and Rashied Davis while bolster the usually forgotten group of players that the team uses in the game. Robbie Gould should also get more looks at the goal posts this season. He has been working on his accuracy and leg strength, and both areas have miproved dramatically, as reported from recent OTAs.

It helps that the Bears are in a weak NFC North division that has three new head coaches and three new team redesigning schemes. This gives Chicago an added advantage since they will have their established gameplan already set up. Lovie Smith, Ron Rivera, and Ron Turner may fine tune some aspects to the team's game, but this team is familiar with the coaching staff and already knows what they look for and what needs to be done.

I think they have an excellent shot at SB XLI. Go Bears! 'Nuff said.

Defense wins championships, but offense has to score some points too. The reason why they say defense wins championships is because the defense can get the offense the ball back, but the name of the game is POINTS. If somebody scores 3 points and you didn't score none, you'll loose. So, unless Griese can get can add some griese to that offensive machine, they'll make an early exit even if they make the playoffs.

who knows they'll make playoffs but only cause they have a weak division if everyone stays healthy I'd say they could have a chance

Hey packz, does that mean they do have an offense?

GO BEARS!

If their offense gets more play time against harder defenses this year...I think they have a decent shot at it...defense alone can't win a championship....

I'm saying Denver wins it all.....I think My Panthers and Da Bears...probably have the best shot in the NFC...they both have improving offenses and phenomenal defenses..

With that d they can do anything, but you need points to beat people and that is one thing this team lack. If their offense is solid then they can win it all and then next year repeat. But it all depends o nthat offense.
