No you don't have to. I worked at a dry-cleaners and we washed many of them, but we never put them in the dryer. air dry them. I Have a microfiber throw and I wash it all the time and dry it.
Its really not that expensive to have things dry-cleaned tho

is it real big? if it is i would use a commercial front loading washer, but drying is the problem, micro fiber might really easily burn, drying it on just air would take a week. also if it says dryclean, it might be because the filling wont do well , if its feathers dont wash it.

I used to put mine in the washing machine on delicates, then peg it out on the line, worked for me, or you could get from the supermarket a dry cleaning product that will work in your tumble dryer. You could also sponge it inbetween dryclean (with a damp squeezed out sponge)

I wash mine and it looks fine.....dry cleaning is bad for your health with all the chemicals they use and it will make you sick.
