I heard it from her own mouth. Last night, at Radio City Music Hall in New York., J. K. Rowling said we all have to get over our denial--Dumbledore is truly dead.

She knows how to keep the anticipation leval way up. I am fairly certain that Dumbeldor will return and that his death was a calculated move. He very well could be really dead but that does not have to be a limitation in this world.
I also believe that Snape is good, Dumbeldor would not have had him at the school if he wasn't and I think he is Dumbledor's ace in the hole and that ace has already been played, we muggles just don't see it all yet.

I looked at the site, but it still breaks my heart to say -- yes, I think Dumbledore is really dead. I think unfortunately he needed to "be out of the way" so that Harry could do the final show-down alone. Dumbledore has been there the whole way for him, guiding and encouraging, and now it's time he takes what's in his heart and either makes it or breaks it. (I have to admit -- I think Harry may die in the final book).

I think not. I suspect that Snape will prove to be an unknown hero after all, and if I had to guess at one major character's death in Bk. 7, it would be a self-sacrificial death of Snape, which somehow will enable Harry to overcome Voldemort and restore Dumbledore.
Dumbledore and Snape will turn out to represent the two sources of wisdom for Harry, the bright flaming wisdom and the dark, shadowy wisdom (or wiliness, or shrewdness). Harry has to see the value of both. After all, the "savior's" followers have to be wise as serpents as well as harmless as doves.
Dumbledore allowed himself to be incapcitated, providing Harry the ultimate opportunity and responsibilty to overcome Voldemort, because he is ultimately the only one who has the power.
If there is to be another innocent victim in the next book (and I'm not sure sure there will be . . . ), it may turn out to be Hagrid, the least likely, I suppose.

I think he is but then again I think about it and think he might not be but they used a curse on him that supposably kills the person that it's used on. And the only person that survived it was harry so i don't think Dumbledore survived. Harry might still be able to talk to Dumbledore because every headmaster has a portrait.

As sad as it makes me yes he is dead.
anyway i find it interesting that people talk about his death being so different from say cedric or frank, they died from the same curse. I think the reason for dumbledore flying through the air and all that is because jk knew it was something important. She is trying to emphasize that he is dead. i mean to just say he fell to the ground would create just as many theories about him faking his own death.
