They neglected to tell you in the short version of the story that Humpty was a complete alcoholic. Humpty would get drunk everyday and “have a great fall” off of the wall. So every single day all the kings horses and all the kings men would be over at the wall putting Humpty’s drunken azz back together again. Then one day they checked Humpty into the Betty Ford Clinic to get him some help with his drinking problem. A day later Humpty snuck out of rehab, drank three bottles of Thunderbird and fell off the wall again. At this point everyone just gave up on Humpty, and made up the story about not being able to put him back together again…

They couldn't put humpty dumpty back together again cause
A:They didn't care.They just wanted a giant omelete!
B:They were stoned out of their minds and thought it was one of those toys that breaks apart and one of those toys smaller than them comes out.I don't kno what they call them....
Anyway LOL!I'm not too sure why they couldn't.Maybe they couldn't find the tape.

Its not a matter if they could have but I personally think they were to busy getting the skillets ready to cook what was left of him to worry much about putting him back together.
