Will be arriving in Osaka at 6PM and staying at the Kansai Airport Washington Hotel. First time to the area- Any suggestions for things to do around that hotel at night time?

Don`t listen to the first reply from Joriental or whatever what a dork! You don`t care about how the gov`t abuses taxpayers money(what country dosen`t?) Nerd!

Anyway, when you get to Kansai airport, take the Nankai line Raipide Train (The Blue one that looks kind of funny!) to Namba station. It takes about 45mins.

Go walk around Namba! This is the heart of the city and you can get a feel for what Osaka is famous for! Eating and Drinking!

There is a covered shopping street that you can walk down from Namba all the way to Shinsaibashi and in the middle you cross Dontonbori river. Here is a kind of Times Square area with the lighted neon signs and Glico Running Man(a famous trademark of Osaka).

In this area look around for vendors selling Takoyaki(octopuss balls) usually you get 6 for 500yen. Or if you are really hungry look for the President Chibo restaurant and eat some Okinomiyaki. These are two famous foods from Osaka.

Wonder around but stick to the covered Sidewalk or else you could really get lost!

Head back to Nankai Namba station(look for Takashimiya Department store) around 10:30 or 11 you do not want to miss the last train and have to pay for a Taxi. It is not worth it! Unless you find that you are having a good time and stay out all night and get the first train. That`s what many of us do! If you want to drink look for Zerro Bar or the Pig and Whistle British Pub. You will meet nice people and have fun! Take care and have a good time!

Oh, as far "as real Japan" goes it is basically convienece stores such as Lawsons,AmPm and Family Marts plus many vending machines and Pachiko parlors are the real Japan don`t let Joriental fool you!

I don't think the other people read your question properly. Ignore the first answer completely. Honestly, the best thing to do (if you are coming from the West, i.e. America or Europe) is to have a nice small meal and then rest. You are getting to Kansai late and won't be out of the airport until 7PM at best. I suggest just checking in to your hotel, which will be 10-20 minutes by train anyway, take a shower, then go have a meal in the hotel restaurant. That would get you to sleep by 9 PM. It's an early time to sleep, but I always prefer to get in some rest when I go to Japan on the first night because it's hard to fly over the ocean (I live in California) and then I am very busy while I am in Japan, visiting soon to be wife and her family. If you go into Osaka, it's really more like an hour or more on the train, even if you take the fastest train. So, if you are out of the Immigration and Customs very fast, then you might be able to get into Osaka by 7:45PM. That's a little late and you would still have to go back to your hotel. You can go into the city, but only if you want to be up late and it's not always a good idea when you have just had a long flight. If you are coming from somewhere close by in Asia, then that's probably a nice idea. There are many things to do in Osaka. If you want more information, just ask. This is where my fiance lives and it's the place where I have spent most of my time in Japan. BTW, Kansai airport isn't "floating," it's actually sinking because the dirt at the bottom of the water is softer than they expected. You can also go shopping in Rinku Town (first stop on the train), but I haven't done so to this point. I am normally in a hurry to see my girl.

Monuments and memorials, modern neighbourhoods, correct regional taste it's this that Washington, DC is; a spot unlike any; exactly like this website hotelbye . Washington it's your house overseas with free museums and America's entrance yard. Washington is acknowledged around the world as a symbol of the United States. Here, the area you cannot miss may be the Capitol. Capitol may be the seat of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The large dome, based on the dome of St. Peter's in Rome, stands apart above all different Washington buildings. Like Washington it self, the building has grown over time because the main portion was built between 1793 and 1812. The past supplement, in 1958-62, increased the key façade wherever presidents take the oath. On one other area, a marble terrace offers beautiful views over the mall and the city. The inside is resplendent with frescoes, reliefs, and paintings, specially the rotunda underneath the great cast-iron dome with a threshold painting by Constantino Brumidi and enormous paintings of moments from American history on the walls.

Kansai International Airport is floting on(in) a gulf.
This hotel close to there, and seem locating remote area. You can go to central Osaka by train, take about 1 hr 15 -30 min.

(You can switch to [satelllite])

Maybe not so much fun things around here.
The view from your hotel maybe nice. You maybe able to enjoy beautiful sunset.
But I hope you do NOT take Osaka is a typical Japan. It is NOT.

Osaka is the notorious city which waste citizen's money, lavish tax. And this area around your hotel is so called "redevelopment" area. They don't know how to manage this area.
Actually some of their plan to develope this area filed bankruptcy.

You will see one tall building, you can see from your hotel too.
This tower also gone bankrupt last year. There were obserbately on 26th floor. but they had to close.

I worry about the management of the Kansai Intl Airport as well (-o-;

Please visit Kyoto, Nara (close to Osaka) or Tokyo(capital), if you wanna feel Japan. Real Japan exist there.
