Most anti-virus programs are pretty weak on trojan removal. A trojan is not a virus.
Try a free online scan or a free download of Ewido:
http://www.ewido.net/en/
It is excellent for trojan detection and removal.
With any malware program, you should always scan and remove in Safe Mode. No process can be deleated if it is running.

Two things:
The writing on the box may mention viruses and not trojans. Read it carefully.
Then get on the net. Today (8-02-06) there was a news article stating that McAfee had some holes in it and that hackers might be able to bore through the holes and gain control of a computer. McAfee is "working on it", but there might be some information on the "net" as to what it can't handle.

I had Norton and McAfee and now I don't use them anymore and I have no problems. All you need are Ad-aware, spybot s&d and the Mozilla Firefox browser with McAfee SiteAdvisor running in the browser. I really don't get any malware, trojans or viruses anymore.
Those programs (Norton & McAfee) are really worthless, except for .the McAfee SiteAdvisor, which is fantastic, really and free. And no, they are not paid to remove your trojans, they paid just to write the next version that will be on the market soon, making the one you have now obsolete. (Happened to me with Norton 2003).

McAfee, like any of the programs, is put together by people. What they decide is an unwanted program that needs to be removed may be different that what you think
Download and run Ad-aware (Free at download.com). If that does not clear it, try Spybot Seek&Destroy (Free at download.com)
If none of those work , repost with the name of trojan and someone may have a fix. Each one is different.

Send them an email regarding the situation. Generally they will reply and try to help you resolve it. I personally despise McAfee products as they cause most computers to run alot slower, especially AMD proscesors.
I like the Microsoft Defender Beta and Norton. I also have had good luck with some of the free stuff like Spybot... give that one a go and see what happens.

I had mcafee. Caught a virus. Mcafee couldn't handle it. Had to take my computor in and have everything erased and start all over. Bought Norton. Works great.

Your first mistake was admitting McAfee (my opinion). But YES they are. They used to be really good but since they have grown so much they have lost focus. CUSTOMERS.

hi, Yeah, Mcafee is not free to do this ,you have to pay for this.
i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox cannot remove the spyware, but it can disable this spyware to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:

Best Wishes && Good Luck!

Use a antivirus to remove Malware and viruses from your computer. Kaspersky Internet Security is probably the best as it would also recover your damaged files.
