Def: Exurb- a rural, non developed county in a Metropolitian area.

It's basically the country, just outside suburbs

Right now I live in historic Victorian neighborhood near downtown Louisville KY. It's nice, but it's also very noisey and hectic. When I get out of college I would like to live in Henry County, KY because its near the city, but has cheaper land prices than Oldham or Shelby County so I could afford to buy a small farm.

The country...no contest! I have lived in all the above...mostly the country most of my life though, and I tell ya, there is no better way to live as far as I am concerned. Yes, we still do have our B&Es and the occasional murder upset, but it is nothing like the other places. You can actually stop and smell the roses in the country. In the city, you have the high crime rate, rush hour traffic, elbow to elbow people in a hurry to get things done, and hardly a considerate gesture. In the burbs you still have a crime rate more than the country, everyone is trying to "keep up with the Jones's", and if ya don't fit in they can make it miserable for ya. In the country it is laid back, no rush hour traffic(unless it is a holiday), everyone knows everyone, kind gestures are passed, and you can observe and enjoy the natural beauty of the world that was intended to be. There are "some" setbacks living in the country however. If you don't mind the laid back life, you may also have to deal with driving further to work(hense being choked by the price of gas), may have a hard time finding a job, and living soley on creativity. That doesn't seem to be a problem for those who are used to it, like me and my family. But, some may not be able to handle it. There is a saying....You can take the girl/guy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl/guy! Same thing for city folks, or the burbs. I myself prefer, as I stated, the country and it will be that way til I die!!!

whats the exurbs?

I vote country or semi-country. I like to be near the city for city things and work. But, like to go home at night to privacy and no city noises.

I lived in Los Angeles for forty years. Now I live in modestly populated city in the high desert of So. Cal. that has all the modern conveniences of a big city, except that there's PLENTY of space, lots of privacy and low crime. And I was able to buy my house in cash. I moved here for all those reasons and because it agrees with my health.

Suburbs, better schools, nice parks tons of close shopping. It's just easier when raising kids.

Suburbs, quiet, relaxing, Springfield-esque.
