It depends on where your having the tatoo... some placed near sensitive parts of the body where there are a lot of nerve endings do hurt and can be VERY painful. Where do you plan on getting the tatoo.. do some research of course... best place is a well known tatoo parlor that has done extensive work and can tell you what parts of the body will bring some pain... all I can say it's a feeling unlike any other you'll ever feel.. and it's different for everyone. The larger the tatoo and more ink color the greater possibility of pain. Your kind of young and should really wait and really consider if you want to scar your body at all. Some live to regret it later on and then have worse scars when they try to have the tats removed. I myself have 3 and love every one of them... but a few of my friends regret their so be sure it's what you want.. give it thought and more thought before doing it. Good luck.

Where the tattoo is makes a big difference in pain. If it's on a fleshy part like the shoulder or breast it's just a series of pin pricks. If you have a large area colored in then you have more needle sticks so that's a bit more painful. The ones that can be pretty painful are done over bone like on the top of the foot, hand or wrist.Think hard about what kind of a design. Stay away from boyfriend names, even husbands names can change. You've got 5 years to figure out what you might want. Start with something like a small flower or symbol on an ankle or shoulder. Best to have it somewhere you can cover like for college or job interview-still some negative feeling about tattoos. As far as the nose piercing as long as it's done with sterile equipment, go for it. Looks painful but people say it isn't bad. Please no hoop through center part-looks like a pig. A small stud is pretty cool and if you need to take it out for work or something once it's healed you can. Good opportunity to get your first diamond!

Yes tattoos hurt...they hurt because the tattoo artist uses a needle with ink and repeatedly goes through several layers of skin and puts the color in. He or she first draws up the tattoo on a special paper and transfers it onto your skin to make sure it is where you want it. Once it is in place and you are sure that you are happy with the size and location, the artist starts with the outline if you are going with a tattoo that requires color. The black outline feels like you are being stung over and over until the outline is complete. Then they do the colors. That can take a long time depending on the size of the tattoo. My last one took 4 hours and it was on my lower back. It was pretty painful. I have three now. The other ones are on my shoulder and my ankle.

The nose piercing I did not have done the conventional way. I had my husband buy a disposable earring gun and mark the spot with the marker that comes in the box and he pierced my nose with the gun. I pierced it without the backing of the earring on it. Then when I was confident I could remove it and replace it, I put a nose stud in. When you have it done at a body piercer's they take out a chunk of flesh with a hollow needle but when you do it the way I did it kind of moves the flesh aside so the scaring is less noticeable and it closes better if you want it to heal up at some point. They don't recommend my method though. The rest of my piercings I had done through my body piercer. Good luck!

1. Yes the tatoos hurt because it is a process of incjecting ink into your skin. It is almost the same as a TB test, or a vaccine. Except the needle is vibrating in and out of the skin at fast speeds, allowing for a seemless line to be draw.

2. The nose piercings are extremely painful as they go directly through the nose cartileage.

Take your fingernail and scrape it as hard as you can across your skin. That's sort of what a tattoo needle feels like but electrified. Yes it hurts some but obviously it isn't that bad or people would not have so many tats. The needle carries the ink and pierces the skin and some colors burn a bit more than others. Whatever you get, realize it's forever so don't make any rash decisions.

Tattooing is done with a needle and dye. It's basically a bunch of dots...and it isn't through the first layer of skin...it goes deep...so that as you shed skin...we all do...the tat remains.

Personally, if the word "needle" is associated with it...you have to assume it will hurt.

Piercings...the tongue thing...really painful. They punch a chunk out. Your mouth has alot of bacteria in it, and you run a good chance of infection...and lots of tongue piercers end up needing serious dental work..that metal thing klonging around in their mouth ends up damaging their teeth.

Nose...I'm told not as bad. But definitely worse than ear piercing, and higher risk of infection and tearing...

Skip also the naval, nipples and eyebrows...

The thing to ask yourself...right now, you think it's cool. But look at some older people...I mean 50/60 year old people with piercings and tats....do you really want to do something that makes you look that silly as you get older? The other thing...some places won't hire you unless you take out the piercings during work hours.

Just some thoughts. My daughter was always talking about getting a tattoo and body piercings...I told her not until she had her own medical insurance because I wasn't paying for her secondary infections, dental damage and so. Once she finally had her own insurance coverage and looked at some of the bad things about it...she decided pierced ears was enough.

I have a large tribal like tattoo on my lower back, Because i'm a thin girl and the position i had to sit in (with my head between my knees) i could feel the needle scraping on my spine..

The best way to describe a tattoo is like having a burning hot needle carved through your skin, I'd like to say it didn't hurt but i'd be lying through my teeth.

IT HURTS, REALLY REALLY HURTS.

But i'd still get another one. *lol*

Wait till you're older, And make sure it's something you love =)

Tatoos hurt really bad because its a needle that peirces your skin like a thousand times per minute and injects ink into it. ANd nose peircings hurt a lot too! A lot more than your ear!

Good luck! =)

I'm 25...when i was 16 i got my first tattoo and my nose pierced. the nose hurts for a sec. but then your eyes tear (weird right) after wards, the pain was pretty dull kinda like when u get ur ears pierced. i remember the next morning, when i yawned, it was a little uncomfortable. as for the tattoo, i have 5...it all depends on where ur gonna put them. the more fleshier, the less pain. dont get me wrong even if u get it on the fattest part of ur body its gonna be painful. remember its a needle going in and out of ur skin, its a burning sensation. think of how a sewing machine works....get it? good luck....tattoo's are PERMANENT!!!

It would hurt to get a tattoo because they use many little needles to get the ink deep down in ur skin. Nose piercings would probably hurt like if you got the cartilage in your ear done.
