The whole point of a Theory is to attempt to explain many phenomena with a unifying set of rules, assumptions, etc. The nature of "everything" is such that it cannot be unified. Nevertheless, many scientist seemed to have lived their lives under a single theory of "everything."

Well, in physics, the M and string theories are split into many camps, but, as a description of the universe and anything in/not in it, I tend to go with the simple yin/yang principle.
