I only buy 100% cotton throw rugs for my bathroom without rubber backing. That way I can throw them into the washer [with a little disinfectant thrown in] and dryer. I wash them this way a lot because I assume the bathroom floor has a lot of germs/bacteria, etc.on it. The color hasn't faded [ wash on medium heat not hot ] and the rugs don't slide around on the floor even though they aren't rubber-backed.
Good luck !

On every rug made there is a tag. That tag will tell you how to wash and dry it. I have never seen a bathroom rug you cannot wash and dry.

Take to local carwash and hit with the high powered sprayer a few times, and then drape out of window on the way home to dry them.

mine go in the washer. then hang over porch rail to dry as drying in machine makes the rubber backing crumble.
