I think it is a very sad, but sometimes necessary, thing. It should definitely be a last resort, after all other options have been fully explored. The problem is, there is a time deadline to deal with, and some women -- or, more likely, girls -- feel pressured by that deadline to go ahead with abortion, only to find out later there were better alternatives.
That's what happened to me, and I never got pregnant again after that, and now I have no grandchildren. I would have made a good grandmother, I think, but back in the early 1970s, I was not able to believe I could be a good mother without the help of the father. And the only alternative his parents would pay for was abortion. Later I learned there were private adoptions possible where the adoptive parents pay the birth mother's expenses until after the baby is born. Also, I might have been a good mother after all.

It's not just the termination of a life. Abortion will not make a life better for the parent to be. Abortion has serious and extending consequences. The guilt alone may destroy the mother. The actual abortion is brutal on the woman's anatomy. Abortion is a decision best dealt with by women as a community and not by a lone woman. I think people against abortion should finance any willing woman to carry a baby and support her to make a decision to keep the baby or adopt. Anti-abortionist should put up or shut up. It is not an issue our government should make laws and limitations over. Definitely, illegal abortion clinics and practitioners should be eliminated. If an abortion is to be carried out the woman must have proper health services.

Abortion falls into two types, one is clinical where it is medically advisable to terminate the pregnancy to safeguard the health of the mother or to end the development of a fetus that had birth defects. The second type is selective, sometimes caused by financial considerations, social reasons and rape. The person most traumatized is the mother and her subsequent guilt. As a physician, I strongly agree with the first type, but with the second type, I have mixed feelings. The couple engaging in sex must use their brains a bit and prevent such conception, whether by condoms or by birth control pills, they must take measures that are rather inexpensive compared to an abortion. In the case of rape, then even financial aid to the unfortunate victim should be given for her short recovery period..However, termination must be as early as possible. We really don't know when a fetus begins to experience pain...there have been many studies about this, and I regard them as uncertain.

I think mistakes happen and thankgod the women before us fought for a us to have such a right.
Of course there are circumstances when abortion is terrible, For instance young women that use it as a form of contraception...
On the other hand, Should i woman that has fallen pregnant from such a thing as rape be forced to remember the incident every day of her life to come? and should a child be born with that burden?
But what's worse, Having an abortion or bringing a child into a life that can only be devastating for him/her?

personally I don't believe in abortion. But depends on what the situation is though. I mean if I was in my early teens and get pregnant I would get an abortion done because a child can't raise a child. but I don't believe in abortion cuz you're still killing a life that's not formed yet.

It's very sad when someone is in the position of "choice"....Personally, I believe there are so many childless couples, it's almost a crime not to do the 'hard' thing.... but all conditions have to be considered. I think it's "too easy" to get an abortion and there are people out there using them like birth control. It is a grave decision and other than just the emotional turmoil it creates, it has many physical ramifications for women. I don't think they emphasize enough the rise of breast cancer, to name just one - because of abortion. The best thing is to protect yourself to start with - and don't sleep with someone who isn't willing to go the distance. Remember, no matter what anyone says, you have to live with your decision way deep down.....forever.....

My husbands cousin just had premature twin boys. They were 24weeks when they were born. After seeing those tiny babies fighting for every breath I can say completely that abortion is MURDER. They had tiny fingers and tiny toes. They are people. No one would be answering this question now if your parents didn't have you. You had a right to live, why shouldn't they. They shouldn't have to pay for their parents irresponsibility. If you don't want to have children you should use a contraceptive. If you don't want to do that then don't have sex. There really is no discussion. The baby is alive from the moment of conception.

i think that abortion is wrong honestly i think that if you feel you are mature enough to spread your legs that you are obviously feeling like you are mature enough to have a child, we all know the consequences of having sex also i feel that from the moment of conception that is a live human being whether you like it or not. so for those of you that want to have an abortion please dont do it im not telling you not to but there are other options and alot of women that have them do regret them ive met a few. Think of all the people that are not able to have children if you are not willing to have that child give them the chance, but it is still up to you what you do im just stating my opinion yours may be different.
