I hate them for being so outspoken (moreso Chris Martin than the rest) but I'll be damned if they don't make great music. Fix You is one of my favorite songs, and A Rush of Blood to the Head is one of my favorite albums. Your thoughts?

I enjoy the music that the four of them create. They have a very Beatles-esque ideal - four moderately talented musicians who use songwriting to their advantage to blend melody and harmonies in rich ways. They are not Radiohead soundalikes - there are some similarities, particularly in Martin's voice, but that's about where it ends. Their playing styles are far different - Jonny's guitar playing has a unique flavor, and there is a different songwriting dynamic between the two bands. Speaking of Martin's voice, I find that he is a very strong, talented singer and has a clear, shimmering falsetto.

I hugely enjoy the albums "Parachutes" and "A Rush of to the Head", but I felt that "X & Y" was a disappointment and far less memorable. Tracks that weren't singles were moderately forgettable, though "Fix You" and "Talk" were particularly great. Both of their earlier albums were far more solid throughout, but "X & Y" felt a lot like they were attempting to emulate older U2, slightly awkwardly. Though I like a lot of other bands a lot more, I always enjoy returning to their music. It's very relaxing and easy to listen to, something that I'm seeing as harder to find these days.

For those that call them "wuss rock" - go listen to "Shiver" and "Spies", and please explain to me why a sense of dynamic contrast and a full volume range including "soft" as well as "loud" and adding keyboards are "wussy". The fact that they can write a good, quiet song puts them miles ahead of many other songwriters of this day.

My feelings on Coldplay, where do I begin? First off, they make "wuss-rock", with keyboards and whiny vocals. I don't even know what Chris Martin is singing about half the time. Which is a good thing, because I don't want to listen to a man who named his daughter after a piece of fruit.

I don't even know if Coldplay can even be called a rock band. Maybe "alternative", but that's just a synonym for "miscellaneous." I do know a few people who like them, though I can never get a straight answre to why that is.

I try not to think about them they bore me with their monotonous records.Chris Martin is a dick who is just jumping on the Geldo/Bono End World Debt thing for publicity.

Coldplay is awesome, as long as I'm feeling patient and calm, or else I get bored and skip to something else a bit heavier.
