How successful is the average cafepress store?

I just set one up and I'm wondering how much money an average cafepress store makes.

On their own, just hanging out there, not very much at all.

To make any money with a cafepress store, you have to market the design you are selling. Otherwise, how will they find your store and why would they be interested in your design.

So, just hanging out there on it's own, expect to make $0.00.

However, if you have a cool website with a cool logo that people love, and you have good traffic, you have a potential audience for your product. If you have that and your products are catchy, you can make a few $. If you have really cool political slogans, or if you have a t-shirt store where your product comes from cafexpress, but you are really responsible for the marketing you can make some $. Don't expect to become rich of of it unless you somehow manage to get noticed and passed along by word of mouth.

For example, http://www.tshirthell.com/ is so offensive, that the URL spread like wild fire, and they made $.

The "average" store there isnt trying to make any money. Its more about empowering you to put out your stuff. Organizations, clubs, political sites, etc.

If you want a conversation with the shops that are working at it to make real money then you need to use the CafePress forums.
