I feel that things should start at home. We must teach our children about making choices & consequences.
Also, it can be part of a vicious cycle. Was the teen mother the product of a teen mother? We sometimes live what we see.
As for the "parents-to-be" in your question, a guy of 26 knows he is wrong. 18 & 26, okay. 13 & 26, come on now. I still say that patrental guidence should have played more of a role in preventing this, unless we are talking about a rape which would make this situation even more tragic. What state do they live in? Is this the product of a religious arrangement? Still, a very tragic situation. The young mother will need lots of support. Heaven forbid if the child has some special health issue. Let's not even get into the financial aspect.
Also, just because girls are ~able~ to have a baby at a young age, does not mean that they ~should~ have a baby at a young age.

well believe it or not, females having children at a young age is nothing new, what's new is how peoples' refusal to recognize the fact that when females start to have their periods, the changes that occur drive them in so many different directions.motherhood being one of them.but people continue to say ,"she's too young to have a baby, she's a baby herself!" even though the girls are holding the proof that they're not.it just becomes difficult for them after because of the prevailing attitudes concerning this matter. Some people mature earlier than others.and instead of marriage being an option.a whole lot of speeches and directions to the welfare office is the way how the problem is dealt with.I'm not excusing the ones who dishonor their parents on purpose, or the ones who get pregnant to get a "check".I just think that this is a subject that is all too common place for there to be no solution that is beneficial for all concerned. As for the man in question, when the welfare department gets her information as to who the father is,he'll understand what trouble is.the fool

The most obvious answer is a lack of information about sex and the human body, but if this girl is 13 and having sex with a 26 year old there are obviously larger problems at play here.
My secondary answer is that young people are often to selfish to look at their options. Abortion or adoption would be the most sound things to do here, but, unfortunately, it seems that there are a good number of young girls who are inexplicably opposed to abortion, yet refuse to even entertain the thought of adoption when they get themselves into this predicament.

The 13-yr old girl is a victim of 'corruption of minor'. That 26-yr old man is an oppotunist so he must be held responsible to provide all the needs and necessities of the girl and child. Im sad that there are men who thrives and take advantage of young, innocent girls.

First off a 26 yr old man has no business messing with a 13 yr old girl let alone getting her pregnant.

Lack of education/information from parents and schools about what raising a child entails. When you're that young, it's like having a little doll to dress up; the grim truth comes later.

That is not a good situation. But in the same respect why do adults have children when they can't or won't take care of them????

Many many people have not had parents that expected a lot out of them etc. Also, many girls do not have their fathers in their lives. Many many families are very messed up these days - it is so sad...

He should be going to jail. Young people who have babies usually didn't plan on having them.
