Is front axles for a 1998 Pathfinder the same as an axle assembly ?

I want to buy the parts myself because having the shop do everything is too expensive. I need to know, if, an axle assembly is all it takes to fix the front axle. Driver's and passenger side, because that's what an auto parts professional rep. told me.

you need to go a wrecking parts yard and buy a used assembly

yes,you have 2 front axle assemblies.left and right.

are you replacing because the joints are bad if the wheel bearing is bad it wont fix that
