It is okay to have background noise on when you study. I do so myself. However, is your music, television, or radio blarring loud? If so, this may hinder your studying. Try playing it softly.
One major way to defeat procrastination is to keep a day planner. I know this sounds dorky, but it works! If you have it written down somewhere when a particular assignment is due, you won't have to worry about doing it at the last minute.
A third tip that I have is you may need an attitude adjustment. Now wait! Before you delete this message, allow me to explain! When I was working toward my Associate's degree, I allowed my homework load get to me. I thought, "Oh man, there is no way in the world that I am going to finish all of this in time!" But the important thing to do is to take a big assignment in steps. Set short-term goals for yourself. Plan out your time so that you can achieve those goals! (If you want, you can even award yourself once you reach them. Nothing too big though.) Keep this up, and you will not have to worry about procrastinating again!
Trust me! It works!

I agree with Think4yourself, having a designated area works sooo much better. I had a study period 2nd semester last year and I was most productive there because I had a scheduled place and time to be doing homework.
Trying to do homework at home is hard because there are so many other things you can do. I definitely recommend a library or somewhere else where it's quiet.

Establish a place to do homework, like do it at the library or stay after school and do it. There are far less distractions than being home.
I HATE homework. When I am in my designated 'place' to do homework, I am so anxious to go home, I do not fool around and I get-er-done! I have trained myself to concentrate when I am working. There are no distractions.
I do take occasional breathers--but not to long. Sometimes procrastination can happen because you have to work off energy or take a break. Sometimes it occurs during burn-out.
Home is my retreat--not a place to do homework.

sounds like its time to make a decision that you want to reduce the stress in your life by not waiting until the last minute to get your homework done. The hardest part of going to school is disciplining yourself to stay up with the schhol work. Trust me.. when you get behind it SUCKS trying to catch up. By finals time you'll be swinging from the ceiling. Maybe put headphones on and listen to mellow music while you study. That way at least you can block out the rest of the drama in your environment. I hated bs'ing my way through papers etc. I felt like I was cheating myself out of what I could have gotten out of school had I put more effort and thought into it. When the assignment is initially given to you make a few notes about what ideas come to mind while the assignment is being given.. that way it will give you someplace to start from when it is time to start writing. Do as much math homework during class as possible. Reading...do while in waiting rooms.. or on the way to school... or in the bathroom... whatever it takes... Discipline is the best skill I obtained from college.. By the way.. one time I went to Starbucks and this kid was talking about skipping a class at his college because he hadn't done the homework. I asked him what class it was and his answer was "college success"... Can you believe that???? LOL

think about this if you dont do your homework you wont get anywhere in life living out in the street asking people for money your kids will be ashamed of you and you pretty much would want to die but you cant cause you have your kids to take care of.
Keep repeating that to youself and if you dont feel bad about what can happend if you dont do your homework then idk.

Have you seen a doctor. Maybe suggest ADD. I am not sure how long you have been experiencing this, but it is worth checking out.

Wait until you have to go to the bathroom. Then, tell yourself: "I'm not going to go to the bathroom until my homework is done". That'll motivate you.

get a wind-up timer... set it for 5 min. or so ...study for 5 min. then give yourself a treat (piece of gum, fruit etc.) reward small steps; that's how video games work !
