Most people who are on the shot dont get there period.....ever, it doesnt matter when they give you the shot because birth control stops the mucus/bloody lining from building up, causing you have your period. Your period will not come...you may have spotting, but no period. I first started getting the injection about 3 years ago, was on it for over 2 years and stopped after i found out it causes bone loss,it takes the calcium from your bones, after the patch and pills didnt work....i just didnt like it, I decided to go back on the injection, i just got my second injection the other day since going back on it.When i called my obgyn and told her i wanted to do the depo again she told me to come in anytime, i told her i was expecting my period in 2 weeks and she said it didnt matter, just come in anytime. Even after being off it for about a year, after going back on it i havent had any problems with spotting like i did the first time, i never got my period after going back on it.
You probably wont get your period back until about 2 months after going off of it, either women dont get there period at all, they will get a period regularly or they will bleed constantly until the shot wears off.....those women cant use it.
Your perfectly fine, when on birth control all the hormones make your body "think" its pregnant and doesnt build the bloody lining up in your uterus. Your gonna love not getting your period.....its just horrible having to deal with the cramps, bloating again when you decide to go off of it.
Oh and dont let the bone loss thing scare you.....take atleast 1200 mg of calcium everyday, 600mg in the am and 600mg in the pm, i dont know what your ethnic background is,but it can cause you to get osteoperosis when you get older, and your bones will be weaker...so take your calcium...EVERYDAY.

To answer your questions is based off of individual body types. Side effects differ from person to person.
I recommend you to call the place you got your shot at and you will have your answer more medically told. That is way better than getting "off the wall" responses that doesn't help you much. Or you could get wrong guidence on here too.
As from what I know about Depo Provera, The first shot should be given by the fifth day after the menstrual period starts.
All women have a change in their menstrual bleeding of some sort. Ie: spotting inbetween periods, longer or shorter periods, some don't have periods after 12 months.
From females on another board on another site have said that their menstrual was a little off for awhile. You are inserting hormons and takes your body abit to adjust.
I am on the pill and my body did that a bit too.

I was on the shot for 2 years. the 1st time I was given it, I had to go in the 1st day of my period. Then after that I never got a period again. I had a friend who was on it and she had to do the exact sam ething, except she had her period for 2 months straight. Everyone is different. Im pretty sure the main thing is, when you get your 1st shot, that you be on your period. After that they have a time table type deal to let you know when to get the next one so you're still protected.

Many people don't have a period when on the shot. However watch out: I became suicidally depressed while on it, and many others have reported the same. So if you feel any serious depression see a doctor. Other than that, you're good to go.

Every time I get a Depo shot I don't get my period for about a year. My doctor says it's not a problem. I love not having my period. Don't stress, it works and you're not pregnant. Lots of women don't get their periods on Depo.
