There's so many books out there. Try "A child is born" or "what to expect when you're expecting."
Better yet - try this website.
http://www.i-am-pregnant.com
It's a wonderful website, that gives you guidance week by week, with wonderful pictures. Even has a message board, where you can share your joys & woes with other expecting moms!
I have looked at so many websites about pregnancy, this is the one that I go back to...week after week.
Congratulations!!

There are quite a few excellent books, and I'm guilty of having more than a few. What to Expect When You're Expecting has done well for me, and I'm even reading it now with my second pregnancy. It does tend to be pretty thorough. The best thing is to just walk to that section of a bookstore and look at some of the books there. Some will strike you more than others, just by the way they're written. I'm not too sure, but I think State Farm still gives out some free pregnancy book, even if you don't sign up for SF insurance. The one I got was Mayo Clinic Guide to Pregnancy, and that one was pretty good.

Everyone told me to get What to Expect When youre Expecting while I was pregnant. But to tell you the truth I hated that book, ok maybe not hated but I didnt read too much of it. The book I most enjoyed because it was not only helpful but also funny at times was Pregnancy Sucks by Joanne Kimes.
Just to give you a taste this is how she describes morning noon and night sickness. "It drains you of your spirit and takes away your ability to care about anything. The fridge is broken? Who cares your nauseated. The dogs fur just fell off? Not your problem. Your weak."
This author just has a way of describing what you are going through and putting some light on it and making it sound funny.

My favorite book about pregnancy was what to expect while expecting. I used it during my first pregnancy and am currently reading it again being pregnant for a second time. It goes through what the baby's size should be during each month, the pregnancy questions that common first timers have and alot of other subjects.

For medical/scientific info., go with What to Expect When You're Expecting or Your Pregnancy Week by Week. For a totally funny read (especially for your first pregnancy!) get The Girlfriend's Guide To Pregnancy. I read this (in a matter of days!) with my first pregnancy, then re-read it when I became pregnant with my second son, and it was even funnier the second time around. Things your doctor won't tell you, but you NEED to know. Too funny!

Congrats! Now... for the practical advice. Don't buy the books. Go visit the library, because there are SOOO many good books out there, and you'll want to read every single one. You could buy most of them, or you could go to the library and put that money towards food cravings :)
If nothing else, your friends and family, especially those with toddlers, will have loads of books to unload on you. If there's something a pregnant woman never lacks, it's advice.

I would say either what to expect when your expecting or girlfriends guide to pregnancy. They are both excellent books. If you want to get a humorous book that your husband will read try pregnancy sucks for men. My husband read it every month to keep up with what was going on but it put a humorous spin on things to keep them interested. Good Luck and Congrats!!!!

I like "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" better thatn What to Expect. It shows you a real sized picture early on of the size of your baby -- something that's hard to relate to when you're feeling pukey and gross and not really pregnant.
Oh, and also check out:
www.babyfit.com
There is a whole place where you can figure out a fitness routine, pregnancy diet and some great message boards.
Good luck!

I personally don't like What to Expect, when your expecting because it gives some false and unrealistic information, Pregnancy Week by Week is much better as is The Big Book of Pregnancy.
We have a lot of panicked women who claim that they have preclampsia or whatever, because What to Expect told them so.

I had a couple when I was pregnant but I'll tell ya the best book of all times is, "WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING." Great book and I would recomment this book to everyone expecting, especially for your first pregnancy.
