This is a 2000 chevy G3500 van with a 5.7 liter engine with 649,000 miles.

It could be a bad buld in the IP or a problem with the PCM or wiring. That light should come on with the key on engine off, and it should stay on no matter what kind of giggle or rain dance you do, until you start it. If not codes are present it will go off after startup. I assume it does not come on at all, ever?

the bulb has gone bad on you,,you need to get this fixed as soon as possible,,it tells you whether or not you have problem with your cars computer system,,after that kind of mileage,,i would say you probably need a few bulb,s replaced,,hope this help,s

the light should come on then go off but on gms if you already cycle the key on and dont remove the key the light wont come back on

Maybe there's nothing wrong with your engine, maybe it's an electrical problem. Do you have gas in the vechicle?

Most likely bulb is out. It should be ON when ignition is ON. Whit this mileage I would't be surprised
