You can be an actor in your hometown. Take some acting classes. Get an 8X10 headshot and mail it out to Agents. You can do local TV and local commercials that way.
But if you want to be on a Network TV show, you need to move to either Los Angeles or New York.
You might have better luck Acting in local TV in your hometown. There is less competition there.

You have to be an actor before you get on TV (ideally). First become an actor, then see what happens.

The most important thing is not to be nervous. Keep your cool, and have fun, while being professional. Start small or course, like broadway shows. You main part is being noticed. Directors don't like people who are nervous and don't know whats going on. Also, go to auditions. Go to L.A. and you will defiantly find someone holding an audition for something.

watch a movie, look at style
