Cost of Living = Out of this world....real estate is overvalued and property taxes are thus thru the roof....not to mention property inurance...if you can get it (due to the fact that every part of Florida is due to be destroyed by a Hurricane within the next 10 years)

Colleges= lots of party schools. If you like to get high, well allright then.

Entertainment = This is a tourist state....did you need to ask??? Theme parks, concerts, gay festivals....whatever floats your boat.

Depends on where you go. In Daytona or Orlando the cost of living is pretty high as it probably is anywhere that there are lots of tourists. Where I am there are lots of community colleges, and from there you might go on to a 4year college. There are a few of those fairly close to where I live. As far as entertainment, there is plenty in the tourist towns.

The downside is that during the tourist seasons you can't go anywhere. Traffic is gridlocked, parking lots are reserved for special events, entire roads are made one way. You have to wait for hours in line just to get breakfast in a restaraunt, or wait a week until the tourists are gone if you want to go shopping in a tourism district. And don't get me started on the heat and the hurricanes. Also, the pay here is horrible. Unless you have a degree, or you have a two income household, most people that I know have to work two jobs just to get by. My sister actually has four.

People envision Florida as paradise, but believe me, it isn't --- and I was born here. My goal in life is to finish school and move to some cooler, cleaner, quieter place somewhere up north.

Cost Of Living: Depends on what part of Florida. Rents in South Florida range from 600 per month to over 1500, depending on where you want to live.

Houses cost anywhere from 250,000.00 and higher. It's hard to find any house under 300k anymore.

There is no state income tax in Florida, so you keep more of what you earn. But, most jobs are lower paying, as we are mostly a service economy here. Tampa has the fastest growing job market in Florida.

Colleges: Excellent! Florida's state school are very well regarded. FSU, UF, and even FAU in Boca Raton are some very good schools. University of Miami is private, but one of the best in the nation.

Entertainment? Other than New York and LA, South Florida is pretty damn amazing. Other areas of Florida are fun too, but South Florida is by far the best in the state.

If you need any more info, let me know.

The cost of living is horrible, a lot of people are having foreclosures do to the hike in insurance rates and they want to raise them more. The colleges are good. Entertainment, well it depends on what you want, we have plenty of things to do, just better have a full wallet to even think of it. And if you have school age children or plan on it we have the FCAT which both THIRD graders and Seniors have to pass in order to get promoted. Yes, I said 3rd graders..little 8-9 yr olds have that pressure. Everywhere you go is packed packed packed. I have lived here my entire life and can't wait to get out!!! I'm currently looking in other states to find the one I feel is best for me. And just like other's have said.....The weather is HORRIBLE!!!! I'd recommend NOT moving here, just come for vacation.

i stayed in Florida briefly..It was OK but i think it would have been to boring to stay down their permanently. Miami is nice but is expensive..But it is a great place to go to have fun..Only thing depending on where you live that could take around 3 hours to get there..The cost of living is OK compared to NY..but compared to some other states, the cost of living sucks..They have some nice colleges..and i think some are free if you are a resident..From my experience, Florida is OK but i think there are much better states to live like NC, TX, PA,

I would love to know that answer to this question myself because I am moving to Florida in six months. If I like it I may stay. I heard that it is really nice there. I have been there but never lived there. When I was there I had fun though.

gets really scorching hot in the summer. rains a lot too.
hurricanes. orlando, west palm beach, southwest florida, miami have been affected by hurricanes. aftermath of hurricanes has led to power outages, which in the summer, can be very uncomfortable.
traffic is a headache. too many cars on streets and highways.

If you like the chance of being eaten alligators, dodging hurricanes, attacked by west nile virus mosquitoes, being french fried by lightning, being stung by fire ants, love hot humid weather and can speak Spanish....go for it and forget the cost.
