Why do people get in the train (i.e. monorail, LRT, etc) before the passengers can get out. I am not from Malaysia, just visiting here but i find it so rude.

I know that in KL, Bangkok, Vietnam, people is often like that. But you know, to my surprise, on the contrary, Middle East people are very polite in situation like that. I am in Bangkok and they come here for summer holiday alot. Any time I get into elevator with them, they are always polite to let you out first. It's like a "polite" session of "after you, no, after you". Even if they wait ages for the lift to arrive ( so many floors, so few lifts) and the lift is nearly full, they patiently leave the space to you to go first !

Not everyone is taught good values by their parents or educated enough to know right from wrong. Although it's not really wrong to do that, it's just really rude like you said. I guess it all boils down to respect. People don't really respect each other enough to give them the small courtesies such as waiting for them to get off the train before they step in. Plus with the fast paced life that is so common nowadays, people are so afraid to get left behind... even by the train!

Many have a nature of selfishness and being inconsiderate though it may not be intentional. Just hope we can continue our good deed and do not become like one of them.

Also I guess in a big city, people are always in a hurry and so basic courtesy is out of the window. Sigh!

THANK YOU.
Personally, it's just common courtesy. Although, one bad apple does not spoil the whole bunch. There're some nice people out there.
It's catching up in Singapore, too. My biggest pet peeve? People who don't say, "thank you" for the person that holds the door/ elevator open for them. Now, THAT'S just plain rude!

People are becoming rude nowadays regardless where about. The so called 'individualism' has taken over the world.

its not an exclusive problem that only takes place in malaysia. this kiasu/kiasu/kiabo behaviour's deeply rooted in most asian cultures, and so evolved the lame theory: survival of the fittest. for the isolated case of public transports, perhaps for a change... survival of the fattest. (they take up more space)

maybe people aren't rude/impolite/apologetic when rush hr kicks in, simple bcos of the K3 syndrome. everybody's doing it... can't beat them...join them.

Here in Vancouver, BC, Canada there is the same problem and I imagine it comes down to basic thoughtlessness and/or being in a huge hurry...

People in New York, San Francisco, and many other major cities do that. It's not just where you are. People are just in a hurry to get to where they are.
